Hello everyone!
I am a new member and this is my first post. I am in the process of deciding between a MT-09 and the MT-10. I have been riding for over 10 years and currently ride a FJR1300.
I have been researching both bikes for several weeks and I am leaning towards the MT-10. I hope to learn from all of you so I can make the right decision.
I have heard a new generation of the MT-10 may be available for 2022. I am hoping that is the case. Meanwhile I will be patient and ask stupid questions.
Regards, Steven Katy, TX

If I could get my hands on a MT-09 SP it might be enough to sway me from a MT-10.

It hasn't been updated AT ALL since it came out in 2016 except they added the quick shifter in 2018. That's 6 years now with the same bike.

I'm not a fan of triples and the cross plane crank 4 cylinder sound is second only to the Aprilia V4 IMO. Then you add cruise control and fully adjustable suspension (as good as stock gets anyway) and the symmetrical dual headlights and it's an easy decision for me. You can only get cruise control on the new MT-09 SP. I can't stand the looks of the MT-09 though. This bike picks up power and serious sound with just a decat mid pipe (retain OEM muffler), AIS block offs, and a tune.

As a fellow FJR rider, I can just say I really like my MT10. I still like the smoothness of my Feejer, but man the torque on my MT10 makes for a fun ride! I didn't test ride the MT09 but I did test the MT07. I really wanted to like the MT07 but it just felt like a big step down from the FJR in performance to me. I'm sure the triple on the MT09 is closer to the MT10. My MT10 doesn't handle interstate as well as the FJR, so be prepared for that. Maybe if I had a bigger windshield it would, but that defeats the feel of the bike.
I've said before that my FJR sometimes tells me to drive too fast, but the MT10 never stops pushing me to ride hard. It's not happy going the speed limit. So be sure you are disciplined enough to stay out of jail if you are considering the MT10. I often wonder if I'm too old for this much power. I took it to an NCM track day recently and it gets to 140 awfully quick.
Will you trade in your FJR? I couldn't justify selling mine yet because I think it is worth so much more than the typical sales price these days.
Have fun deciding!
