Hi all,
I’ve purchased a 2019 MT-10SP which has an aftermarket exhaust and link pipe fitted. I’ve been told that the ECU had not been tuned yet after the install.
Both exhaust and link pipe had to be removed and replaced back with the stock exhaust and cat for the roadworthy.
If I put the exhaust back on only (not the link pipe), do I still need to get the ECU tuned? Will probably put the link pipe on in the future.
Thanks

What is the manufacturer of the exhaust? Is the muffler a slip on as well?

Thanks Hi chiewwwy, First of all congrats for MT-10 *SP*, its a great machine. Unfortunately we dont get *SP*s in the region If you change or remove stock exhaust system cat, you must tune ECU to eliminate running you bike too rich or too lean... and avoid long time serious damage to engine (header, gaskets, etc...) I personally know a guy who ran his Japanese Suzuki without ECU tuning with Arrow Indy muffler & cat delete link pipe. You can still tune your SP with kits like Woolich with Zeitronix Zt-3 logger or similar. Just using muffler with OEM Cat should not cause much issues.

What is the manufacturer of the exhaust? Is the muffler a slip on as well? It’s an Arrow Indy-Race Exhaust It will need to be tuned. You can get away with a a few slip ons without having it flashed, pretty sure that isn’t one of them. If you delete the cat you have no choice.

If you delete the cat you have no choice. I mean you don't HAVE to. I went 1400+ miles on mine with a 3/4 system and no tune. It ran just fine. Hated the decel popping though

You can do anything you like, do your research and go from there. By no means am I the sage on this, however if you want the best performance get it tuned.
Running too lean or rich is not good for the bike over long periods of time.

As purchased my SP came with the stock can and the Akrapovic, and I can't say I noticed any difference in the way it ran with either. If you look the cans, they are pretty similar and not at all restrictive, most of the sound baffling occurs in the stock cat and the EXUP valve. With a Leovince mid-pipe, the bike ran quite flat in the low end, as well as being unpleasantly loud around town, so I re-fitted the standard cat and EXUP with the Akra end-can, and I had the bike reflashed like that. I can say that this transformed the engine and has made for a much smoother and energetic low and mid-range, so well worth the time and expense.
