Looks and sounds great. Did you do the full install yourself? If so can you write up the process and or give us an idea of time/complicated?

Looks and sounds great. Did you do the full install yourself? If so can you write up the process and or give us an idea of time/complicated? It was pretty easy overall. The most difficult part was removing the EXUP valve; I found the easiest way to do that was to remove the cover where the valve actually lives (at the pipe) and loosen the cables there so I could get one free ...once one was off, it was easy to remove the second one. Like a fool, I tried following the instructions which say to remove the cables from the servo under the seat, which proved nearly impossible. lol Other than that, easy. Once the cables are free, just feed them up through the subframe and remove the servo motor. With the end-can removed you simply loosen the rest of the hardware and knock the mid-pipe off where the cat meets the header (I had to use a rubber mallet). In my case, one of the gasket "donuts" stayed in the cat, the other remained on the header. With the Akropovic you don't need these, so I just gently pried the one off the header and slipped the cat eliminator into place and hand tightened the hardware. Then mount the new end-can bracket and slide it into place. Hand tighten that, then go around and tighten all the bolts to spec. I think even with the SNAFU trying to get the EXUP removed, the whole thing took maybe 45 minutes. One thing I love about Akro, they include all the necessary hardware (as if you had a bike with no pipe on it at all, they don't expect you to reuse anything from the bike) ...and they even provide copper anti-seize and thread lock.

I have had amazing luck with fit and finish with Akrapovic over the years. They clearly take the time to do it right the first time.
I installed a full Evo system on my 07 R1 all on my own and I am about as mechanically inclined as a monkey!! LOL
PS. Still waiting for some more vid clips of that exhaust. LOL

I just posted a video in the "Videos" section that captures the sound pretty well.

zenmoto,
absolutely LOVE the look of the Akra 3/4 system. how does it sound compared to stock, decibel level wise (hard to tell from your vids)? LOVE the sound of the crossplane crank engine, but I just don't want anything crazy loud. I was going to go the way slv went (initially), with a midpipe and the stock can, but he said that setup was ridiculously loud and wound up purchasing a 3/4 Yosh system. can't remember if you've flashed your ECU yet... reason I ask is that I see the O2 sensors are still in place in the pics.
your thoughts?
regards, Tony

I have flashed the ECU, but still use the lambda sensors in a closed loop system. The pipe is ...a little on the loud side (a lot louder than stock). I don't think it's annoyingly loud, but I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't like me pulling out at 4am either. could hammer one in with a mallet, and it would stay put ...but I haven't tried that. I actually love the way it sounds like this, but am worried I might get flagged for noise going up the hill at Laguna Seca.

thanks, zenmoto. I assume you're running the lambda sensors for CA emissions?
kinda what I thought about the sound level. I'm sure I'd be ok with it, as long as it retained that awesome crossplane crank sound and it's not annoyingly loud, as you stated. can't be as bad as these Gnarley's with the straight pipes!
track day at Laguna... man, I'd like to check that off the bucket list. really need to find a trucking company to get my bike out to Cali.
r, Tony

That pipe sounds amazing. It's hard to compare with different recording methods and such, but it sounds like it may be slightly louder than the Yoshi system, but if so, not by much.
How did you record sound in that video? Can you share details of your mic setup?
That Crossplane sounds like a normal inline four, if the normal inline four were attached to a chainsaw blade cutting through titanium like hot butter! It just damn sexy.
