I just traded by 2017 FZ-10 for a new 2020 BMW S1000XR. Why? I just wanted a change, something different and new. I loved the FZ-10 and have zero complaints. I put over 16k on it and never had a single problem. It performed flawlessly. If I could have 2 bikes I would have kept it when I got the BMW, but the wife sez only 1 at a time. I can't complain. She has been good about my riding and never stands in the way when I want a new bike. The FZ was never uncomfortable but could get that way after 200 miles or so. The S1000XR is bigger and heavier (first thing I noticed when I threw a leg over) but it is also more comfortable and although I've only ridden it a few miles (got it today) I think I will have no problem doing 3 or 4 hundred mile days. I have enjoyed reading the posts here the past couple of years or so. I guess I'll have to try and find a forum for the BMW. Again - keep up the good work and informative posts. The FZ-10/MT-10 is a great motorcycle.

Good luck. Check back and let us know about reliability, service and parts prices and availability versus the Yamaha.

Happy trails bro I hope you have as many miles of enjoyment out of your new bike as you did with the FZ . Same boat one bike at a time the lucky few get have the multiple bikes in the stable.

Good luck. Check back and let us know about reliability, service and parts prices and availability versus the Yamaha. I will do that. However if history is any teacher I already know nothing is as reliable as a Yamaha. As to service and parts availability I already know that is not a problem here. The local BMW dealer (who is also the Yamaha dealer) has a good reputation as to service and parts. Now about that price thingy...BMW's cost more all the way around from parts to service. I knew that going in.
