As most of you know the factory mirrors are marginal at best. No matter how I set them all I could see was 1/2 of me and 1/2 of the lane next to me. The issue is they are not far enough out on the bar or wide enough to see a full lane out. On top of that they detract from the lines of the bike (imho). Enter my solution. RhinoMoto mirror mounts and CRG 2" folding lane splitter mirrors. Below is where I purchased them and the service was excellent. There are many other vendors that carry these parts. I choose the 2" mirrors to keep the profile as small as possible. I mounted them up so I don't have to look down as much. Finally I when with the lane splitter folding option so I can maximize storage should I need too. www.motostarz.com/rhinomoto-barends-mirror-mounts-for-yamaha-fz-mt-models.htmlwww.motostarz.com/crg-ls2-2-round-2-dia-folding-mirror-each.htmlThe basic parts look like this. You will need to get two mirrors and 1 bar end set. The installation is a breeze. Once you remove the stock bar ends you screw in the new bar ends (I used blue loctite to make sure they were secure) and then screw in the replaceable rubber ends. These mounts feel slightly heavier that the stock ends. The mirror install either up or down and are self explanatory as to the installation. The only advice I'd give is to work the two screws evenly to tighten down so that you can get the rotating ball real tight. Again, I used a little blue loctite to keep the screws in. All the screws are metric. I did replace the stainless screws with black M4x.7x16mm screws as they are slightly longer and look cleaner. Those are available at Home Depot for .89 a pack of two. I plugged off the mirror holes with auto panel retainers and plumbers tape to a tight fit. These will also work for plugging the rear peg exposed holes. This is how they look on the bike: These photos are from my normal riding position with the camera in my helmet looking down. This is the view I see of whats behind me with a simple glance at the mirrors. I easily see 1 1/2 lanes without moving my head other than to glance at the mirrors. They really are blind spot mirror at this point. These are a welcome addition to the bike and make using the mirrors for traffic conditions decision easier and more confidence inspiring.
