I did level one yesterday at the Corvette Museum track on the school's BMW SS1000R. As the subject says, I go to Birmingham for level two in less than two weeks, this time on the MT10. I'm not super fast and don't drag my knee. Still I want to improve my skills and I think this will be good for me to get to know the MT10 more.
Any advice for how to handle the MT10 vs the BMW on the track? Tires will be different and the lean position, for starters.

Awesome!
I did the superbike school at level 1 on the BMW out at Laguna Seca.
So main points I will make for you:
MT-10 will wheelie all the freaking time even in 3rd and 4th gear. Your arms/body will get tired and annoyed because the high bars of the MT-10 will get in the way when you really try to get aggressive and pick up your pace in the corners. The brakes will stop just fine but once you pick your pace up enough its going to require some good pull on the lever. I'm going to get my suspension set up because I felt like the nose was diving a little too much.
But overall the MT-10 is a freaking hoot on the track and I love it. If I tried to make my MT-10 track dedicated only changes I really wanna make would be lower the bars a few inches and put some better brake pads on.

I had a blast at barber on the MT10. Once I started learning the track (the hard part for me) I started getting a lot smoother and faster. I'm not an aggressive leaner but I do try to shift my weight. During the 2nd to last session my coach said, "now you've either got to slow down or lean a lot more because you're at the limit." I started working on the upper body position for the rest of the day with some progress. I don't think I'm leaning the bike over that far from the pictures, but I am close to dragging hard parts. I'm thinking a better spring and adjusting the suspension tighter (I weigh 220 and all is stock) would add a little more clearance, right? I have it set for a good feel on the road not track performance. I'd like to do a regular track day at Barber next.

Have yet to have my ABS get in the way. But yeah I freaking love my FZ on track!!!!! I'm a level 2 riding in my org.
