Two questions.
1. Is the steering dampener suppose to be free floation on the mounting bolt or tight. I can wiggle the dampener with my finger up and down. Seems loose.
2. I'm not use to the mechanic sound 9f the crossplane engine but mine is somewhat noisy. Chatters. Not sure how to add a video link for the sound.

The steering damper needs to have a bit of freeplay, so that sounds normal.
The CP4 motor does have some interesting characteristics, some chatter or ticking seems to be perfectly normal. I'm lucky in that I bought mine with 12000km on it, so any sounds to me were "normal". That's a bit different to buying something brand new and expecting mechanical perfection. If you were used to a conventional in-line 4, then the CP4 will sound pretty mechanical. I came from a V-twin and V-four so the uneven firing order and pulsing seem normal.

I bought the Bike a month ago with 3500 miles. Here's a link to the engine vid I made. Its only 30 seconds. Hope the YouTube link works.

Hi oldguymadspeed-
Damper moving up-down with finger is normal (i will tomorrow confirm this from both my Yamaha MT-10 & R1M).
Engine sound doesn't sound normal to me from beginning angle of video, but from front angle it seems normal (your motorcycle was cold? Was was coolant temp & ambient temp?)...I will try to shoot same angles tomorrow and let you know (may be via video).
Thanks-

Damper movement is normal- it's on spherical bearings.
Engine sounds normal to me, my 2019 sounds like that at ~2200 miles currently.

Both sounds normal. Sportbike engines have a tendency to tick or clatter. It's usually attributable to the cam chain and cam chain tensioner. It's normal.

It can also be attributed to the solenoids that activate the fuel injectors. I had a set of GSXR injectors in a cleaning tank and was amazed at the racket they created.
