All those mods and only 41 miles on the bike? Damn that's sad lol. I put that many miles on just riding my bike to work and back the day after I bought it 🤣

Yea, he is a 38 year mechanic and blew out his right knee right after he bought it. Just been sitting covered in his big garage with 2 other bikes. He removed the fuel several times and kept stabilizer in it. His 19 Street Glide had 48 miles on it.

I blew out my knee, waited 6 months to be able to bend it enough to get on a foot peg and then bought a 2017 FJ 09. Traded it after a year on a MT 10, rode that for a little over a year and got a knee replacement 3 weeks ago. I feel like I'm about another week from getting back on the bike. Congratulations on getting such a great deal.
I was talking to David who owns Fast Bike Industries yesterday about tweaking my new Ohlins front cartridges. (they distribute Andreani, Ohlins and Nitron in the USA). He mentioned that you want to have the suspension right on these bikes as they basically an R1 and is a 1000 CC animal bike. As he does a lot of race bikes, I was a little surprised. Sometimes you forget what an amazing machine these things are. I get a lot of raised eyebrows when other riders ask what kind of bike I have. I guess it's pretty well known as an aggressive motorcycle. It sure is a fun bike to ride.

So I've put about 50 miles on it between yesterday evening and my lunch ride today. A few things I noticed. The throttle is a like a hair trigger and is really tough to maintain steadiness over rough or uneven road. I wonder about the 2WDW tune from 3 1/2 years ago or if it's the throttle tube ramp rate. It's nuts. Wow do these things kick out heat on the left side. Having never ridden one, is it normal to feel like it's missing below 2000 rpms? Kind of feels like a warped flywheel or a binding chain (best way I know to describe it). Is this just a normal cross plane crankshaft characteristic? I also know it's been sitting for 3.5 plus years, he did suck out the fuel and refuel it with fresh fuel and stabilizer every now and then.

Hmm not really understanding what you are trying to describe. But I never really have my bike below 2k rpm unless its just sitting there idling in neutral. If you are trying to ride it with rpms that low you are most definitely lugging the engine and I'm not a fan of that. Too much stress on it.

It feels like that every time I take off until I pass about 2k rpms. It might just be a normal feeling, could be due to the cat delete and tune or just how the engine feels. I've never ridden one, so it feels unlike any other bike I've had. I don't lug bikes or cars. I've been riding off and on since 1992.

Something sounds a miss my bike try to loose off the back pulls so hard it's crazy. Even in stock form it was really impressive from bottom then little flat mid then pull hard on top . With a tune and stock exhaust it's kinda scary but in a fun way.
I run in mode 3 like a rain mode I think the fz10 are opposite someone can correct me on that. TCS I run in the middle 2 then I picked up a G2 throttle tammer it's was a big help a lot with the jumpy throttle input on the bumpy turns..

Try switching the throttle mode to the middle setting and being a little more aggressive with taking off.

It's nuts. Yea mine was that way stock and it's better with the 2WDW tune but it's still pretty twitchy at the on/off point. I'm looking at getting the G2 throttle tamer to help with it. Wow do these things kick out heat on the left side. Yea and if it's got the tune then the fan temps have been lowered so imagine what it felt like stock! Spoiler alert - FUCKING HOT. It's pretty normal for a bike with this kind of firing order. I come from v-twin land (TL1000R, VTR1000) and they're always choppy down low. Regular flat plane I4 engines are much smoother and don't tend to have that kind of characteristic. It's probably partly the slipper clutch as well. Definitely get the revs up when taking off. Mine shudders like crazy under 2k as well so I usually feather the clutch in that zone

Will, that's what I was looking for! I can't imagine the heat on a stock ECU!!!! I thought about trying a G2, now I really am. When riding over uneven road or bumps, it's near to impossible to maintain steady throttle. I had a feeling it was a characteristic of this engine below 2k. Thanks so much sir! Thanks to you other guys too! So G2 shows the 17 FZ10 and FZ1 as the same, should it be the 2018 MT10?

I believe it's the same but not 100% as they did change other random things like the clutch switch or something else. Revzilla lists the same p/n for both bikes but it's out of stock and I can't seem to find one for sale anywhere, everyone is OOS Yea the on/off throttle when stock was borderline dangerous - it was like a light switch. Like you said though it's still twitch to ride around the city with - still pretty blunt at the on/off spot.

I just don't get how engineers send motor vehicles out with stuff like that going on. I don't care how good you are, it's impossible for it to not happen and man is it dangerous in turns. People said my 18 Z900RS had a snatchy throttle....... I think it's worse on this bike because it has so much more power.

Loosen your grip a bit on the bars, the more you ride it you will get smoother with the throttle.

Crazy that they would put emissions over safety. Typical government involvement.

I have a '17 FZ-10 with stock tune and a) I don't notice any radiant heat issue, and I ride in Texas, and b) I don't have any problem with a twitchy throttle. Maybe after 4 1/2 years of ownership I've just learned to live with the throttle but it never bothered me even when it was new. Ride it a bit more and see if you get more comfortable with the throttle response.

Did 180 miles yesterday. That throttle is like a hair trigger. I may try a Moore Mafia tune, ride down there and let him dyno tune it. This 2WDW tune is from Dec of 17.

So if there were two little things I would change on this bike it would be some underseat storage and somewhere to hook your bungee net! I was like WTH? I still made it work though. I also think I will try the Seat Concepts upgrade vs the Yamaha comfort seat. IF I like the Seat Concepts seat better, I will just sell the comfort seat. Definitely getting a windshield as well. Between Givi, Puig, and Madstad. The Madstad is the one that doesn't look as good to me, but I like the quick disconnect feature.

But that being said I haven't tried the Yamaha Comfort seat. I also installed an MRA Racing screen and it helps a TON and doesn't look terrible
