I'm trying to see what the largest size I can get away with is. I don't really want to buy side bags only to realize I really need side brackets. I'll do a large tank bag too if it doesn't interfere with seeing the cluster, steering, etc.

I have the Nelson sport (middle size) and it does great for a work and lunch bag. It will also expand to carry even more if necessary.

One thing I recommend to include your criteria is the easy on/off ability of the bag. Mine has a base that attaches to the bike and then zips the bag off. Makes using it way more useful. I also wanted a back pack option too so that way if a passenger come along the bag doesn’t have to be left behind. Kind of looks hard to beat for occasional use and the size. I know there's good review software out there to make products seem better than they are, but many of them were well written and included pics.
