Not sure of what the differences are between a 2017 FZ-10 and a 2018 up MT-10, but I really like the gray with lime green wheels. I also like the blue 2018. I have been going back and forth between the GSX-S1000F, a 2019 Kawasaki Z900RS cafe, the Aprilia Tuono, and this bike. I'm leaning most towards the Yamaha as repairs and maintenance would be less than the Aprilia, it too has cruise, the cross plane crank sounds awesome, and there are lots of touring accessories. I ruled out the GSX-S1000F after $1000 of the rebate went away and just can't get past the looks. The Kawasaki looks awesome, love the green, and is quite comfy. I owned a regular 2018 Z900RS in black. They are just so down on power and it doesn't have cruise. I can get a brand new 2019 in green for $9800 though. I live just outside of Raleigh NC if anyone knows of a clean FZ/MT-10. Thanks! Little about me: started riding in 1992 with a new 92 Ninja ZX-6. Following bikes through the years: used 95 CBR600F3 (stolen), new 99 ZX-9R, another used 95 CBR600F3, new 04 GSX-R600- fantastic bike, new 08 CBR1000RR (best deal ever 6999 new!!), 14 Ninja 1000, 15 Honda Goldwing F6B, another 15 F6B, a 16 Goldwing, 18 Z900RS, and another 16 Goldwing.

Welcome!!!
I compared the same bikes before I bought my FZ.
Suzuki and Kawai were off the table for me pretty quick. Suzuki is down on power and features. Yeah its cheaper but its also UGLY. Kawi is also down on power, heavy for what it is, and has no cruise.
Now the Aprilia Tuono is one hell of a bike. Its powerful, beautiful, and has tons of features. I really almost bought this bike.
I think what made me go Yamaha is that you could set up the FZ to tour if you wanted and the seating position was a little more comfortable. I bought the FZ at a time when I was not doing track days. The Aprilia is more sporty in its riding manner and seating position.
Now I am doing track days I might pick the Tuono if given another chance. But the FZ does track days amazing as well, its just the handlebars are a little higher than preferred for the track.
As for the difference between a 17 and 18. Quicksifter, the end.
18 comes stock with a quickshifter and 17 does not, although it supports a quickshifter if you buy it yourself.
I have the grey with lime wheels and its a very fun color scheme. But given equal price (or close to it) I prefer the 18 blue TBH.
But IMO Aprilia or Yamaha either way is going to be a great bike!

The Tuono is the more racy of the two as is the rider triangle. It's also quite bit more expensive to maintain and find someone who can and will work on it. I just scored "the deal of a lifetime" and am picking up a 17 FZ-10 in gray/neon from the original owner with miles so low I don't want to say. I'll post a pic when I get it home Saturday. He had already put the Yamaha comfort seat on, T-Rex "FZ-10" frame sliders, front and rear axle sliders, Akrapovic titanium cat delete , 2 Wheel Dynoworks tune, AIS block offs, fender eliminator, Rizoma bar end mirrors, Yamaha oil cooler cover, adjustable kickstand, and a 1" lowering link. It has been stored in a climate controlled automotive garage. He removed the fuel yearly with his fluid exchange tool and flushed other fluids while it sat. He has kept a battery tender on it and it stayed under cover. I go to just south of DC Saturday to pick it up, about 4 hours north depending on traffic. CAN'T WAIT!. I'm so tired of watching motorcycle review videos on youtube for the last several months.
