A quality 520 DID is plenty strong, and a gold one looks better too. I got a steel rear for long life.

I’ve always been told it’s the lighter weight and the effect on rotating mass.

I've read that also but jboy has done it so want to know if you can feel the difference or just a mind game . It makes sense weight wise but ide rather have strength instead of a couple of hps on this bike power is abundant for me anyway

The strength was my concern before I did the conversion on my 97 YZF1000 from 530 to 520. Never had an issue for over 14 years of use.

I guess I'm not asking the question right, Did you notice a difference in power? whats the point unless the difference in rotating mass is not enough to feel from the seat of your pants otherwise why do it.

Can’t say for sure as we added CV carbs and a custom air box at the same time. The engine builder did say it was easier on the counter shaft bearings and rear wheel Cush drive, wish I could be better help.

When it comes time for the new set I guess I will know wich direction to go with maybe even a gear change . Even then I would want to go longer in the gears right now to much bottom End I think but I don't want to drag first gear anymore then I do leaving lights but I'm thinking 1 or 2 teeth down in the rear might calm it down on the bottom. The g2 tamer helped alot with that but it's still just a freaking animal on bottom and mid.

Look at the tensile strength chart on DID chains. A 520 is plenty strong. It's not super noticeable, but why run a heavier chain if you don't need to ?

Because the bigger chains last longer so you don't need to replace them as often. You'll never even notice a difference between a 520 and 525 on the street

I guess if I where racing it might make a difference but if I can get more miles out of the 525 then a 520 I'll just stick with the oem size but thanks for helping make up my mind.
