Hi all,
new member here, Just upgraded from mt07 to fz10. Got a good deal on 2017 with the bright yellow wheels. What a great bike this mt10 is. looking forward to all the great threads about the many wonderful upgrades for this platform. The previous owner installed a cat-delete on the bike and I'm not sure if it has been tuned. any advise about how I could find out would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on the selling of your girl bike.
The easiest way to tell if it was tuned would be to ask the previous owner if possible. Otherwise you will have to visit a tuner I suspect.
If you're operational without engine codes I suspect you have been previously tuned.

Couple of things I noticed I also bought my bike from a dealer used very low miles with a cat delete and can . They did not know if it had been flashed or not but with the system it came with a flash was not needed It was smaller diameter pipe for restriction maybe to compensate for a lean condition , it sounded great just to loud but had power pretty smooth all through the rev range . I reinstalled the stock exhaust orig owner left in a box with all parts thats when I noticed a major flat spot 4 to 6 grand until I has it flashed now to much power in that range kinda touchy in that rev range even in rain mode . MPG went down from 38 to 30 mpg ave fan kicks on around 200 instead 220 cold start idle is a little lower it seems then orig the bike is just and animal now and loving every mile of it..

Wouldn't hurt to dyno tune it if you're uncertain.

Just got done installing DNA air filter and block off plates. Ran usb for phone while I was in there as well. will be taking it to my local dyno shop to tune. Will cost $450 @ Blais Cycles they seem very reputable. Does that sound like a good deal? Any thoughts on just sending out ecu for a flash with 2wdw. I'm just looking for smooth, reliable power with working cruise control.

$450 seems a bit steep honestly. The 2WDW flash is half that amount. Cruise still works just fine as well. I had mine down over the winter and the bike is a whole different animal now.

Does anyone know if the fz10 would run without tripping the engine light if a cat delete was installed. The bike seems to run ok with no engine light and I suspect the previous owner might have flashed or tuned it. I really don’t want to spend$$ if I don’t have to.

Yes it should run without a light if the ex up servo is still plugged in and working with ex up cables removed O2 sensor in mid pipe. Now running fine is the question for a tuner did you mention what system you have? The delkevic system I had was designed for the stock mapping so they say and seem to work great but in the disclaimer mapping was advised . I would think most decats would require a flash to not run a lean condition but again question for a tuner. For now until you know what direction you decide to go is if the system has a baffle or DB killer I would run it to be safer for now. The Akra system I had for my fz 09 the manufacture said it was safe for cat delete with db killer in but would need a flash with it out.

I searched all over the cat delete and could not find a brand name on it. The muffler is the original so it won’t surprise me if it’s a cheap knock off. It sounds great though a bit loud but love the tone of this motor. My Fz07 had a full yoshi and I ran it without db so I’m accustomed to loud. Think I’m gonna ride it a couple hundred miles then bite the bullet for a dynotune. Gonna do the air filter and ais block off first though. Thnx all for the info, I will post an update when it’s done

If you leave the O2 sensors in you won't get a code. Not sure about leaving the exhaust servo plugged in without the cables though. I just bought a servo buddy with my exhaust and removed the servo motor and everything.

I did not have to the block off plates I forget the reason for doing I think it was decel pop wich get get zero of with the tune. It was recommended to stay with the stock filter and that was good advise minimal power gains for possible problems with that.
I was going to use stock can with leovince mid pipe has a small resonator poeple have been happy but quite a bit louder then stock so I went back to stock still working on the stock can and close to what I'm looking for in sound level.

On the servo I had it Disconnected when adding some battery accessories and forgot it was unplugged when I turned the key on but did not start it amediately threw a code.
So I reconnect and cleared the code with pigtail and code reader. You never know if you will need that servo ready to go and in place.

Try the Yamaha Yoshi-MT10 exhaust and a 2WDW tune along with the Leo Vince mid-pipe....great combo IMHO!! google part #B67-E47A0-T0-00

I was going to go with the leo mid pipe if it was stock when I bought it. But now after having the cat delete system and a short can and way to loud for me making the stock system is what I'm looking for.
Honestly having that heavy cat down low it seems to me the bike handles better now then when it was gone.
I think the bike needs the weight it just to much hooligan as is . I never thought I would say it has to much usable power now.
It comes up a lot in 4th even when I don't want it to but I just grin ear to ear and loving every mile of it.
