I signed up here, though I have not bought my MT10 yet. Sold the R1 Friday night, and the FZ09 is advertised in Cycle Trader and Facebook. Do any of you have any experience riding the FZ09? It has one of the great motors, just superb torque. I want to know if the MT10 is the same (I have not ridden one yet.) Watching YouTube 'tests', most riders say that there is great torque from low rpm, though a few say it feels like a 600 until it is revved out. This is exactly what I do NOT want. Both of those cannot be true. Can anyone weigh in who has ridden or perhaps owned both an FZ09 and an MT10? I hope to hear from you. Thank you.

I've ridden the 09, rode it right after the 07 and right before the 10 at a Yamaha demo day. The 09 was fun no doubt but Yamaha gave it the cross plane treatment so it's not as smooth as other triples and that kinda put me off of it. Then I rode the 10 afterwards and it was ear to ear grin the whole time. It's 40 HP less than the R1 but same torque. HP also comes lower in the rev range. Plus it's got different final gearing so it actually pulls a little quicker than the R1 down low. It does lack top end though but it's meant to be a street bike not a race bike.
An exhaust and ECU flash will net another 15+HP at the wheel though and really wakes these bikes up. They're so restricted sure to emissions from the factory

Ive owned a 17 fz09 for over a year and really loved it very quick and nimble but with not so good brakes and suspension vibration and little light on the freeway is the main reason for selling it plus after researching the 10 I just knew I had to have it. I only have one ride on the 10 but its a whole new animal all together both bikes have the power and torque in the fun zone up to 9500 the 10 just has more of it like a tractor or electric the 10 has so more everything IMO . I think it would be hard to come from a litre bike to much less hp..

hey guys and gals, im new as well coming off a FZ6 2006. absolutely amazing bike to own but got me in too much trouble always chasing the higher rpm range. I rode dirt bikes all my life and had a 07 crf250 rally as a beginner bike. I had the opportunity to ride my friends fz09 which was INSANE coming off an old fz6. Then i rode my other friends superduke 1290 and was awe inspired (also terrified!). I have currently found a 2017 FZ10 for $11 500 canadian with under 6400 kms (not sure in miles). it has not been sold yet, I live in Vancouver BC so it rains a lot here and most riders here are either cruisers or sport or dual sports, so im hoping no one hops on that hooligan bike before march fingers crossed! See you all in the forums soon!!!!

"Nobody needs a liter bike!" they say. Well I say I'll take my liter bike and be happier at 4-5k instead of 8-9k+

I've owned an 2016 XSR900, a 2017 FJ 09 Tracer, and spent a weekend on a rented 2017 FZ 09 out in California. All are virtually the same bike with the FJ 09 being a little heavier. All are great bikes but need aftermarket suspension after which they really can use their full potential. I tried to catch a hot rod Mustang and couldn't and at that moment started thinking of a more powerful bike. Someone on the FZ 09 forum was selling a year old MT 10 and it just caught my eye and I started looking at them. Ended up getting 2019 1 year ago. Way different bike. It does everything better than the 09s. Hardly anything you encounter is faster except for full on superbike class. The stock suspension is better than the 09s but still not great. The Euro competition in that class are all a little better performance but for $5K more and all have mediocre reliability vs the MT 10. Plus parts availability and price. I had a Ducati and the services were $500 vs $180 for my 10. There is nothing worse than having a bike stuck in the shop or unrideable because your waiting for parts. I slide out on gravel at the end of my driveway and wiped out all the plastic, turn signal and stator case. I had all of the parts in 3 weeks. Consider that the are about 6 different colored plastics and that's pretty impressive. I love riding this bike and they're pretty easy to work on. Lot's of mods available.
