Couple weeks ago riding i realized the ticking noise coming from the right side. It wasn't extremely loud but noticeable. Riding yesterday the noise was still there so returned home. En route back home there was a sudden loss of RPMs of 1,500k and the noise got significantly louder and temperature shot up to 240. Anyone ever experienced this?? My warranty just ran up 3 months ago too....

That's not healthy tick, don't start engine untill you tear it apart, sounds like valve tapping and could hear slight skids, cam chain jump over two teeth

Sounds like a big end rod bearing failure to me. Sounds like classic rod knock. Maybe a failed cam chain tensioner that led to smashed valves and pistons as well. Impossible to know until it gets torn down. I'd call your local dealer and ask them if they can contact Yamaha and see if they'll do anything. Sometimes they'll do a good will parts only warranty.
Any mods to the bike? How many miles? How do you ride?
Pulling the valve cover off will give you an indication as to whether it's top or bottom end. Nice tight cam chain and no broken cams or valves that have way more clearance than they're supposed to (would indicate they're bent) will at least give you an idea if it's top or bottom end. My bet is connecting rod bearings though - sounds a lot like a rod knock to me, at least from the video.

After calling Yamaha Corp and the dealer complaining of the issue they finally caved in and allowed me to drop off the bike at the dealer (dealer wouldn't take the bike until after the new years).
I'm hoping Yamaha corp will cover it under defect warranty.
Bike only has 6k miles on it. No significant mods on the bike just a slip on exhaust and I do not ride this bike terribly hard nor take it on the track. Bike for the most part is bone stock.
I will keep you posted on the the dealer see's.

Keep us posted. I'm worried about my 2019 now lol. I don't ride it crazy hard either but I'm only at about 1500 miles

Dealer called back yesterday. They drained the oil and saw a lot of metal shaving. Seems like connecting rod may have went... I will be submitting my maintenance invoices to the dealer so they can hopefully file a defect warranty claim because my 1 year warranty just ran up back in August.

Yea it definitely sounds like a rod bearing went. Hopefully Yamaha will help out, if even parts only (usually what they'll do for a goodwill claim after warranty expiration)
