Hey gang, thanks for the help. I have a question, I did my oil change myself at 12,500 miles on my 2019 MT-10. The bike is leaking slowly oil from the drain plug. The plug is fine, it wasn't stripped, cross threaded, or torqued on there. Why it is leaking? My O-ring fell apart/disintegrated the day I did the change! It's just the oil drain plug bolt now... What would you buy, today, (from a dealer? Home Depot?) to fix this? I will be redoing my oil change but I want to do it right lol I was told an O-ring would be fine to keep it sealed, after setting the drain plug to 17 OEM FT Lbs w/ a torque wrench. Clearly not. I'm pretty incompetent with this stuff but would like to learn. No videos I've found mention specifics like if they only used a crush washer, or just an oring, or both..? Also, was there a gasket or something in there originally? If so, I've lost it in the oil pan a long time ago. Do I need to buy a replacement gasket?Thank you!!Edit: Does anyone know the gasket's part number? Is there a generic gasket I can pick up from Home Depot perhaps? The manual doesn't mention putting an o-ring OR crush-washer above the gasket? Do you guys use one for your FZ/MTs? Thanks. I'm losing my beans it's just an oil change!!

The gasket is a crush washer. I believe it’s 14mm

www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en Is a really good site for stuff like this. They have schematics for the whole bike and usually sell all the stuff as well. I guess you could also use it to find out what parts you need.

Clean the entire area thoroughly and throw some cardboard or something under the bike this way you can verify where the leak is coming from.
Seems like a bunch of 10s have had leaks from the oil pan gasket. Which can very likely drip down the pan and drain plug and make it seem like it's coming from the drain plug.

The gasket is not a true crush washer but a soft aluminum washer. They are available from Amazon-----> Bolt Motorcycle Hardware (DPWM14.223-10) M14 x 22.3mm Drain Plug Washer, (Pack of 10).....$8.49
Or just get one from your dealer. A typical crush washer will also work. The o-ring you are using is not the right thing to use. There is no o-ring so I'm not sure what disintegrated when you did your oil change. And 12,500 miles is a long way to go before changing, especially if it was the first change.
