greetings all,
new owner of a 2020 MT-10. Took it out for a first ride yesterday. Love the bike but have one question that I'm not sure is normal or not. when taking off from a stop or at low speeds, it feels like the clutch is chattering. With the clutch completely released the chatter lasts up to about 15 mph after that it smooths out. I've searched here and other places with no real answers. some say all issues will be resolved after the first oil change. Would make sense for a wet clutch but of the 3 other bikes I've owned non of them had this kind of chatter.
Any thought's??
thanks.

I have 15k miles on my 2019 MT-10 and I can tell you this is normal. I never fully release the clutch unless I'm going over 17mph. Too low engine speed.
Its a slipper clutch, so it slips itself a bit if you downshift too hard but tightens itself under acceleration/load.
These clutches dont slip the same as normal clutches do.

Does it persist while riding, does it go away or get better when the bike is fully warmed up? Thinking maybe it's an idle issue rather than the clutch.
Not sure how the clutch would be chattering when it is completely released. Even with the slipper clutch.

The bike shakes pretty good up to about 12mph. Smooths out to about 15-17mph. Seems pretty normal after that but there does always seem like a little shimmy. It's never completely smooth.
I've thought about taking it back to the dealer, but I've barely got 120 miles on it. I'm not trying to jump the gun for something that may not be an issue. Just concerning because the 3 other bikes I've had never felt like this. But then again they've never had this kind of power.

My 2017 with 15k miles does it. I feel like I've only started noticing it recently. Its fine if i am under moderate acceleration while letting the clutch out. While it may be a design flaw in the slipper... I think its normal.

My brand new 19 does it as well. Pretty sure it has to do with the uneven firing order of the engine. I'm used to riding V-twin sport bikes and they did it to some extent as well.

Yep, sounds pretty normal to me and I never thought about it being the slipper clutch. Always wondered why this one was not as smooth as my silky smooth ZX14 which was missing slipper clutch and traction control. I love the slipper clutch downshifting into hot corners (where I have been too hot a few times). Anyways, this bike was not built for low speed handling/take-offs/anything!

Pretty sure it's the odd firing order and not the slipper clutch. The ZX-14 is a buttery smooth standard flat-plane I4. If you ride anything big-bore that's not a standard inline you'll notice it. I noticed it on my VTR1000 and my TL1000R

I usually just try to take off a little quicker to avoid this and in most cases it works. Blast off/Ride On!

I went from an FZ-07 to an FZ-10 and noticed the clutch chatter immediately. As others have said, it doesn't happen as badly under moderate acceleration, and is minimized by clutch control. I agree with 3lseeker, these bikes are not meant for slow handling and low RPM's.
