Hi all
I was cleaning my bike yesterday and noticed the original chain has a few little slithers of rubber coming away between the links in the chain, it's not a full o-ring that's coming away just slithers from the o-rings, has anyone else had this before? Is it time for a new chain? It's not from lack of matainence as I have a bit of a chain cleaning fetish, and I don't think it's from anything I've done as I've used same cleaning products on this chain as I have used on all my past bikes. Cheers

Chain is shot and the o-rings between the links are no longer holing the lube on the rollers. You need to replace the sprockets and chain as a set since they wear together. How many miles do you have on that chain?

I think you tend to get tight spots on most chains, but ive never had this before very disappointing, what did you guys replace it with? I always thought DID are good make?

EK 3D is a good one to consider. Higher tensile strength than many others (comparing same sizes). Mostly positive reviews/feedback. Previous owner put one on my bike. I like how it looks also.

I noticed it after approx 4K mile, do I have to get a endless chain or is a riveted chain ok, I'm looking at a DID ZVMX Which is X-ring instead of o-ring, and supposed to be the best DID do apart from there exclusive racer ER, which I think is a pure race chain.

Do you have pics of these “slithers”? Is your chain worn out? Riveted master link. I recommend DID’s tool, KM500R.

That is a really short life for a chain. Are you sure it’s rubber and not just old chain lube and grime coming out from between the links?
