Hi all! I'm currently looking for my next bike. The MT-10 is on my short list of candidates. I need a bit of an all-rounder and I've seen online where fellas have done just that. The bike will be just for fun, no commuting, and I live in the sticks (Western Colorado) so no traffic splitting or light to light riding. The Yamaha has some big pluses for me: the motor, sitting position (6-2, 195, 64 yo), Yamaha reliability, and three dealers within an hour. I wouldn't be touring on it. I tend to ride big loops, 120 to 250 miles, and I'm back home. I might do some over-nighters after things settle down a bit, but that's it.
I'd probably have a windshield I could remove for most of the season, but use it to extend my riding season in early spring/late fall. A change of exhaust would be fun with the subsequent ecu flash, and a comfortable seat. Probably throw a Kriega 30 liter drybag on, as well. I'll sort the suspension out after proper setup and riding for a bit.
I look forward to learning about the MT-10 and hearing other riders' experiences. Thanks in advance.

Hello from a former eastern sloper! (Denver/COS)
The MT10 is perfect for what you're describing. I know the roads you'll be riding! I wouldn't even bother with a different windscreen, the stock one does a pretty good job below let's say 80mph, I'm 6'1" 225. I doubt you'll be going 80+ for dozens of miles at a time up there.
