Ok, just for the exercise of a mature discussion and not to start a war/drama/insults. Things I like about the FZ10: 1-ABS 2-Traction Control System 3-Cruise control 4-Quick Shifter (ready, but not out for the US market yet) 5-Comfortable seating position 6-Power 7-Naked 8-Engine sound 9-Easy to ride 10-Suspension Not so hot: 1-brakes (fixable with pads and SS lines) 2-Price Lastly, the white elephant in the room: IMHO, this bike was designed by someone tripping on acid, while folding Origami and watching a Transformer movie. I mean, I am waiting for Godzilla to show up and destroy this bike, just because it looks like a space monster. Ya'nasty! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, OK, but anyone calling this bike a beauty in design, is BLIND and a liar too. ;-) Try cleaning this bike in the Spring, when all the bugs come out to play, it's a nightmare!!! There are places you can't reach and it would take hours to get bug guts off. Now, check the simplicity and beauty in design (photo below) by following the KISS Rule. (Keep it simple stu...) No BS non-functional plastic side covers, no bat wings on the side of the radiator to cover the overfilled coolant tank and look, no dreadful looking headlights.

I like the looks of the FZ-10, but I'm weird...
Also, a good wash brush with long soft bristles will get those nasty bugs.

Cruizin, you're no fun. You can't possibly like this bike 100%. There must be something you don't like as much, so speak up. ;-)

I personally like the crazy front end on this bike. Seeing it everyday, I think it looks very modern. My friends have a FZ-07 and FZ-09 and those bike with their single headlight already look outdated.
17L gas tank on this bike is average, it just drinks gas like crazy. That's one thing I dislike but you can't have everything in life.

My like list is pretty much the same as the thread starter. The brakes are fine ,but the brake feel sucks, the feel does seem to get better over time or maybe its just me getting use to it. As for the looks, when they first unveil it i was "oh well i guess i'll keep my FZ1" even though the specs where great, then i saw it in the flesh and thought it wasn't so bad after all,it was a grey one, then i went to a Yamaha demo day to road test the FJ-09 and th FZ-10,the -10 was black and i thought at that moment that it looked amazing and was really impressed by it during the demo ride,it was a great upgrade to the FZ1. The -10 does have a look that will open discussions, but now i do think that it may be a bit ahead of its time in that regard. The one thing I really dislike with it is the fuel mileage, i also wanted to use to -10 for touring purposes, and it's too bad because its autonomy is the only thing that makes it an ok tourer, other than that it would be great for that purpose, i do not regret at all getting the -10,and it is definitely here to stay in my garage, but i am seriously debating getting a Super Ténéré to keep here company and for long multiple days trip.

The complaints people have concerning the FZ-10 are funny to me....one guy said "no trunk space"
I get the same mileage as I did on my FZ1? Maybe a little worse but it's a lot faster so...duh?
The brakes are obviously better than the FZ1. I've hammered on the track and street, they work great.
There's a million headlight options out there and the FZ10 is unique. I like it. I come from the Street fighter world and "transformer mask headlights" are pretty common.
The key is the handling and the power delivery. This bike has it. I went two seconds faster at Laguna Seca on my '08 R6 as I did on my '05 GSX-R1000. Power is useless if the rest of the bike doesn't work with it. The FZ-10 is the complete package: Frame geometry, chassis flex, swing arm length and pivot point, CP4 power delivery ....it all has to work together. Yamaha nailed it. This bike is an engineering masterpiece...far better than the sum of it's parts.
That said, I'm just some guy who rides every day and has been riding since forever. Dirt on the weekends and trackdays since '99. I'm a Mechanic, Machinist, Fabricator and Aerospace Engineer by trade. This is my opinion and I approve this message. YMMV.
The good stuff on the FZ-10 is so good I've learned to not care about anything else.

I have had many styles of bikes over the years and most of them being Yamaha. I have owned all Generations of R1's except for the 1st and Current. I have owned Gen 2 and Gen 3 FJR's. Gen 1 Vmax, Gen 2 FZ1 and a Raider S. The FZ1O is by far my favorite of all these bikes. It fills all the needs in a great all arounder bike. Upright comfort, brutal low and mid range power and unique styling. The FZ10 had been labeled a naked R1 but it isn't just that. It is also what I like to call a Streetable R1. It uses that motor in a different way. It puts the power down low and mid range. This is where it is needed on the streets. The R1 was designed to be at high revs pumping out Superbike power. This is not always a usable option on the street. Yamaha hit a home run with this bike!!

*DISCLAIMER* I'm not knocking the '05-06 GSX-R1000, it's a brilliant, amazing motorcycle. One of the best ever and certainly one of my favorites.
