Drag raced an S1000R on the way home from work. Destroyed him. The FZ-10 just hooked up, floated a low wheelie though a couple gears and I was gone. He seemed like he was pretty pissed. He looked like he weighed 200+ though and I'm only about 175lbs. but still.
Numbers don't mean shit if you can't put the power to the ground.

I've crushed so many 1299 Pannis, S1000RR etc...on the track in A group or on the back roads. It's almost all rider, but the FZ models have always helped me be confident and had enough capabilities to get the job done. Come ride Laguna with me next year. I've done it (3) times now...all with full exhaust. Later Ripper

Got killed tonight by a vmax. My cousin ran my vmax vs me on the fz10. Roll ons at 30 to 120. He gave me two bike lengths and passed me like i was riding a grom. I love both bikes and thought itd be closer. Both bikes flashed with exhaust but damn, not even close.

Almost 1700 cc V4 vs. a 998 cc I4. I could see those medium speed rolling races favor that Vmax.

The FZ-10 stock only has (reportedly) like 135HP, so substantially less than the BMW, and at about the same weight. Both have 190 rear tires, so an even playing field. What would be more interesting is both riders of the same skill, since that can make a huge difference.

Oh, so you own an SP; that explains it. He he. Hardly the same as the neutered version we get in the US . I don't believe a US version would beat one of those bikes with equal riders. Probably not even close. But thanks for responding.

Except when theres turns but the vmax is surprisingly good there too.

I think the race to the gas station would be about equal......having put 35K on an '09 Gen2 before getting an FJR. And although capable for a bike as large and heavy as the vmax, the FZ10 is a JOY to ride fast in the twisties!!

aside from domestic OEM flash, there shouldn't be any reason the SP should be faster than a standard MT.
I would absolutely love to have a vmax though.

I live fz10 in the twisties but its still very comfortable but the race to the gas station isnt the same anymore because my vmax has a larger tank in it.

I used to have a 1200 Vmax along with my FZ-10 and honestly I wasn't very impressed with the Vmax. It was jetted and had a full exhaust just not what I was expecting. I've always heard about how fast they were and it just didn't live up to it. With that being said, I still think they're great bikes and would like to have another.

They are referring to gen 2. Completely different bike. The only thing similar is the name.
