Anyone know anything about the 2cr, 2cr1 and 2cr2 engines having some kind of crank design flaw?
How do I know what motor I have?

From the few youtube vids I've seen, I thought this only affected R1's from 3-4 years ago, mostly race/track day bikes. I'm guessing the lower revving cams in MT's might not stress cranks as much.

I think '14-'15 R1. My apologies for scare. Figured it was relative to the crossplain dwsign.

The issue is mostly known to affect the 2015 R1 (all models). However, EDRPerformance, who has been one of the most vocal critics of Yamaha on this issue, claims they have seen them on all 2015+ R1s with no differences between any models and ECUs or modifications, but mostly Race and Trackbikes.
I watched a breakdown on the issue (Youtube - The Workshop) where due to the horizontal play in the crankshaft, the counterweights of the balancing shaft and crankshaft would make contact and eventually, fracture the crankshaft towards the end of it.
I am not aware of any similar failures on the FZ/MT 10s yet and the guy in The Workshop video said that this issue will not affect the FZ/MT-10s due to the addition of a "thrust washer" (See below or 2017 #10 on the parts diagram of Crankshaft, part # 2CR-11426-00-00) that should limit the horizontal movement of the crankshaft (mentioned in last minute of the 45 minute video). Obviously there's a bunch of us that track them and I feel like the issue would've come to light on here by now. But who knows. I've seen people try to ask EDRPerformance on their various threads on social media if the Mt10s were affected but never saw a response.
EDRPerformance said to see if you're having the issue remove the right case cover and look at the cases behind the inside of the cam chain for wear. If you see wear, you can expect the issue.

EDR does like to fear-monger a bit.
