Well, yes, I'm absolutely sure MINE is not an AGM. Maybe it changed after 2017. Or dealer put something else. Will check the part number when I get back home, out of curiosity. But glad to know there's an OEM fitting AGM alternative, in case the Shorai is crazy expensive, or it doesn't crank the engine any better.
I would not be surprised if your dealer put something else in, especially since your machine was a leftover when you bought it. When I bought my 2009 FZ1 in 2011 the original battery lasted about two years, when I pulled it out it was a BikeMaster piece of crap, not the original Yuasa, so the dealer stuck that in on a brand new bike. I've not had any issues with the original Yuasa AGM....bike cranks for about one second and fires right up, even after sitting for an extended period of time, but as I've said it is always on a Battery Tender Jr. When I get back from a ride and connect it to the BT it goes from 'red' to 'green' in less than 5-7 seconds. If your bike struggles to fire right up it might be an ignition or fueling issue.
After 3 1/2 years my bike cranked a little slow last week so I ordered a new battery for the upcoming season. I just got a new Yuasa OEM today, ordered from Amazon for $108 and drop shipped from Tucker Rocky in Ft. Worth. Opening the box there was a sticker inside that said 'Charged' with a date of 1/24/20 and that it was putting out 12.7 volts. Anyway, I connected it to the Battery Tender and it immediately went to green so it was fully charged. I'm leaving it on overnight before I put it in the bike.

Is there an AGM battery for MT-10? I have had fantastic luck with Odessy AGM in my gen 1 VMAX.

Thanks all for the feedback. When I read 2 year life on the OEM I was disappointed. As noted I replaced my Odessy AGM after 12 years (12) because the manual indicated to do so. It would still turn over the VMAX and It spent more than one winter without a battery tender and lit up in the spring. I got spoiled with that kind of product life.

Hey guys! I'm also in need of a battery replacement on my 2017 factory battery (YTZ10S as well, AGM). I've had the factory since October 2017. It has died on me a few times but my portable jumper has gotten me back on the road and as long as I ride it every few days it seems fine. I do agree on the point that if left in "Park"/"P" key ignition switch position, the battery will be pretty flat overnight. Does anyone know of a quality domestic alternative? The Yuasa's are roughly $140 now. It is a bit pricey in my opinion.

Spend the money on a reliable battery, it's cheap insurance to not getting stuck somewhere.

I agree it's a good habit to have a solid battery since I commute with my bike. Thanks! I will stick with Yuasa.
