I'm just shipping out my ECU today for the Black Friday reflash and have a couple questions. My 2018 is still stock exhaust. I intend on buying a full or 3/4 system this coming summer, but wanted to take advantage of the sale pricing now.
1. When I install the flash, do I have to remove the O2 sensors, or can that wait until spring?
2. The list of features includes "ECU based quickshifter". What exactly is that? Since my bike is a 2018, it came standard with the Yamaha quickshifter. With the reflash make it work differently in some way?
Thanks for any info,
Rob

I did 3/4 yoshi at the same time as doing the 2wdw flash and ais blockoff plates. Just call 2wdw and they will tell what to do with the o2 sensors with stock exhaust. Be sure and let 2wdw know itβs an 18 with QS. I have an 18 and QS works just as it did stock. Also if you have the funds get the ftecu active tune when doing your aftermarket exhaust. You will have to send your ecu back to them at that time to activate the active tune in the ecu along with an updated map for the aftermarket exhaust. Just call them, there easy to talk too and will explain everything to you. There very helpful

You should at least unplug the stock 02 sensors, otherwise your ecu may receive conflicting information since after the flash, you are now running an open-loop system. Nels flashed my 2018's ecu this past summer and my stock sensors are still in place, but completely disconnected from the wiring harness. I'll get around to buying a pair of 12mm bung plugs on Ebay soon though. 2. Your oem QS will work with the reflashed ecu just fine. You can always update to a either a FTEcu autoblipper (which incorporates its own QS, this replaces the factory unit), but bear in mind that you will have to send your ecu back to 2WDW. The tune is license-based and only Nels has the license that is tied to your ecu. Another option is to get a stand-alone autoblipper/QS, such as Trans-Logic. This requires no licensing and can also be installed and removed anytime you wish (if you sell the bike, for example).
