I did the rookie thing and ran my mt on a rear stand in gear. Even with TC turned off it quickly threw a check engine light. I have a SCT obd scanner from my 2008 mustang so I ordered a obd to Yamaha 4-pin adapter but it won’t clear the trouble code. The scanner works in any car I try to clear the check engine light. But it doesn’t work for MT10. I plugged it in, then turn the key without starting the bike, then select clear codes but it doesn’t ever clear them. The adapter pigtail I got from eBay. Any ideas??

Welcome to the forum! I've heard of this before, there's definitely some other members that had the same issue. I think they had to take it to the dealer to get the code cleared. A standard OBD won't do it.
Might get lucky with search on here, I know for sure there's been a couple topics on this.

I have a cheapo $25 Autel AL301 OBD2 scanner, and it cleared my EXUP code my bike threw the first time I exceeded 7K rpm, so I doubt it's a scanner issue. I'd question the cable first. Check that the correct 4 wires are connected to the correct locations. I bought my cable from a guy in England, and it worked perfectly. Good luck.

Just download a free obd2 app for your phone and use that. I ordered a cheap $5 bluetooth obd2 and mated that up to the same pigtail and it worked like a charm clearing my o2 sensor fault.

Hi. I've had my 2018 MT-10 for almost 2 years now and have probably oiled the chain 40 times by running the engine in gear on the race stand (bike has done >20,000km/12,000 miles). I have never had a problem. I don't understand when this happens? How long did you run it for? Did you rev it, as I only idle it while oiling the chain for a minute or two.

It's when you throttle it. My presumption is the Traction Control/ABS is detecting too much wheel spin since there's no friction and the front wheel isn't spinning so it can't figure out what to do with the system so it faults. Just my guess but it definitely makes sense that this won't happen if you only let the rear wheel spin off of the idle.

Did you have the ECU flashed at any point? I know the flash I received inadvertently disabled the on board diagnostics. Sending it back to get it corrected next week.

Genious! I ordered a wifi obd2 adapter off amazon, hooked it up and cleared the cel no problem. Nothing wrong with my pigtail adapter. It just didn't work with my scanner. Thanks!
