just bought MT this weekend.
want a tiny bit more sound, not ready for mid-pipe and ECU flash, as i have the extended warranty and don't want to mess with it.
but i do need more sound - for the purpose of hearing what the motor's doing a bit better (the whisper quiet sewing machine sound i can barely hear what bike is doing).
Smaller slip on might do it?

find a used can. They pop up sometimes on here. I know you don’t want to break the bank and don’t want Chinese stuff. Leo Vince has a slip on that’s in the $200-300 range.

Once you get up to speed, with full face helmet on, earplugs in, and wind/mechanical noise no slip on is going to make that much difference to what you will hear.
I have Yoshimura Alpha-T slip on.....better sound at idle and slow speed, but once past 50 mph or so it makes no difference, at least to my ears.

Factory silencer is a straight thru design just like all the aftermarket silencers are so there is no real benefit except looks. You have to get rid of the cat to get more sound.

PM me or text me regarding buying my slip on.

That’s not an accurate statement Um, yes it is. The factory canister is a straight-through design...pull it off and you can look straight through it:
The Exup valve and the catalytic honeycomb material in the stock midpipe do the majority of the sound deadening.

You made 3 generalizations in your post and you focused on one to make your point. I agree the oem muffler is a straight through design but there not being benefits to an aftermarket can and the only way to get more sound is by removing the cat are not accurate. I know this because I have ears that work and can clearly hear the sound difference between oem and aftermarket

I ran the cat delete and stock muffler. The sound increased substantially with that setup. I eventually changed out the stock muffler with the Akrapovic slip on and it seemed to get a little quieter and much deeper.

I viewed a dyno test that said no more power with just a slip on, you need at least a 3/4 exhaust. Might be some minor sound and weight difference depending on muffler design but not much. Not worth the $ IMHO.
Go with a 3/4 at least, plus the flash. Bike doesn't need it IMHO, but it's a huge boost. I went cheap as f*ck and got a used Delkevic 3/4 + 2WDW Flash. Sounds sick though, -20lbs and maybe +10hp? It's been a while I forgot.....
Been riding my 1190ADV lately, forgot how sick the FZ-10 is.

Hey. I hope you have searched older posts as this has come up several times. Long story short.... I put a tip on.... removed valve flapper.... that’s it. No noticeable power loss but substantial volume gains. Many ways to do this. I’m content for now. Search my posts and I have pictures. cheers

I have the Graves slip-on, and it sounds substantially better than stock, and also louder, due to the much deeper tone of the slip-on. At least to my ears . I don't want it any louder than it is now, and I can hear it perfectly (but subdued, just the way I want it) even with earplugs and at speed. And it's not obnoxiously loud to neighbors. Perfect solution, and bike stayed stock, meaning no awful fuel smell without the cats. If I have a Harley next to me, I obviously can't hear my exhaust, but that's what the tach is for . Good luck, OP.
