Hi everyone, I've been on the fence between the Tracer 900GT and the MT-10 for a while, so I've been lurking on this site to help make my decision to finally go with a brand new 2018 MT-10 leftover last weekend. The biggest factor in my decision was the triple engine in the tracer feeling too bland and weak for me which is a shame because it was the perfect bike in every other aspect. The info here has been really helpful already and I already plan on adding a few mods that I will make writeups on as I install them.
As far as the bike goes, I've been overall pretty happy with it so far and I will keep it for a while but its shortcomings are very obvious especially now during the break-in phase. For a liter bike it feels pretty lethargic under 5k rpm and not having a center stand really REALLY sucks and makes me wish there was a tracer 1000. Hopefully someone can figure out how to fit one on this bike. The Tracer 900GT seems more and more practical and comfortable every time I get on this bike but I guess every big purchase comes with buyers remorse and I'm sure I would be whining about the engine on the tracer if I bought it. There is no denying that the crossplane 4 is an awesome sounding engine and it brings me back to good memories on the '96 VMax 1200 I used to own.
So far I've ordered an Evotech radiator and oil cooler guard from motostarz and a 20" touring windshield from madstad engineering. I plan on doing more research on a tank bag and soft panniers before getting both and I also want to get a more comfortable seat, some handlebar risers and quality bar end mirrors soon. Also, not to beat a dead horse, the fuel economy and range suck so I plan on getting an Acerbis Rear Auxiliary Fuel Tank that I'll bungee strap to the passenger seat for longer trips (its a 4 hour ride through very rural areas with very few gas stations or cell service to get to any nice twisties from Dallas).
I'm going to keep the catalytic converter and stock ecu settings during my extended warranty period (5 years) but I plan on cutting the stock silencer and making it shorter. I might also look for some lightweight wheels further down the road but for now that's all I have planned. Ride safe everyone!
