Looking to upgrade my tires and I am considering a set of Michelin Power RS. Mostly Street/ "spirited" riding. Does anyone have these tires? What do you like or dislike about them?

I was thinking about getting those since I missed out on the Q3+ rebate and then the Michelin rebate came up.
I hope some other people have experience with them.

I ride with a buddy that has these on his R1, he is an advanced group track rider and trusts these on the street. They seem to be awesome tires. But I also have a buddy that weighs nearly 300 lbs and uses Q3's on a stock suspension fz09 and just absolutely rips on them.

Sorry guys, but I don’t see how comments about running a sport touring tire are relevant to those seeking information about a hypersport tire.

Those road 5 tires look great too. They seem to have a lot in common with the power RS, but seem to be more for wet weather and longevity. I don’t really do much riding in the rain, happens sometimes when I forget to check the weather, but not often. I just want the best street tire I can get, these bikes have a lot of power. I do a lot of commuting as well as spirited riding, so honestly, the road 5 would probably be the best fit for me. But I’d rather pay more for traction I don’t need than get a cheaper tire that might not deliver. My concern is really more about how well they work when cold. I’ve had pilot powers slip and low sided my last bike when I “gave it the beans” coming around a corner. That’s how I learned they need to be warmed up a bit. I ordered the power RS tires anyway. I’ll let you guys know what I think of them after a few rides.

I actually have Power RS's and I'm on my 2nd set. They are great tires, they lean more towards the track tire side of the spectrum so as you can imagine they don't last very long. I'd estimate i get around 4k miles on them if that? That would be the only downside to them, other than that they stick to the road very well and I'll keep getting them.

I just ate my stock tires with 2,916 miles on the clock. Just like a car's summer tire, they need lots of heat to perform well, meaning they don't when cold. I was going to buy another set of super sport tires until I rode a bike with Road 4s at the dragon and surrounding areas for a week. I didn't go crazy on them, like on a track, but had to remove feelers to avoid dragging them with aggressive cornering, and not even a hiccup. In the cooler mornings, they gripped way better than my supersports. And in the rain, immensely better. I came to the conclusion the Road 5s (which are even better than 4s) are better than a supersport tire in every respect when ridden in the streets, even for aggressive riders. And that's exactly what I'm getting next. Will order them tomorrow, probably from Revzilla. The great news is they should last about 3 times more than supersports, while being safer in the cold and rain, and equally capable as supersports if not at a track. Can't better that, but to each his own .

Check this site for tires americanmototire.com, I ordered a set of Bridgestone S22’s from them and they were $259 and change plus a $50 rebate with links to the manufacturer’s rebate pages on the site, I had them shipped to my friend’s auto repair shop, the owner was concerned someone might be scamming my card since the shipping address was different, called them and talked to him, seemed like a good place to do business, will order tires there again as their prices were good and free shipping.
As far as tire wear on the FZ/MT 10, the stock tires lasted me and my riding style 1600 miles, I replaced them with S21’s since the profile would be similar, the first set of those went about 2100 miles and the second set went 1500, they may not last long but they do well across a broad temperature range and work well on wet roads. Sport touring tires may work well but on the bike I’m running something with a bit more grip. I’m sure the Power RS offers similar grip and Michelin claims they work well in the wet due to their high carbon black compound, if they get the mileage stated above, I may have to try a set. I have access to a NoMar changer so I’m fortunate in that I don’t have to pay for mounting and balancing so I try to buy tires when there is a rebate or sale.

Thanks for the heads up on americanmototire.com MTneer, but the 190/55+120/70 set of Road 5s is $362 with them, and $359 with Revzilla, as an FYI. Pirelli Angel GTs and other competitors are way cheaper, by the way, but for aggressive street riders, it's better to go with the proven Road 5s IMO .

From the little research I have done, the Road 5 is probably the best tire for me. But I do get on the bike pretty hard here and there, so I am willing to pay more for a tire that will offer that traction with reduced tire wear. It's so hard to get solid information about tire performance and the differences in the compounds they use. I have read that the Power RS is actually derived from the Road 5. This makes me believe that they use the same compounds, but with a different tread and different ratios of the same tire compounds. I could be totally wrong, but it makes sense if they are trying to keep the tires mysterious for marketing purposes. So I went with the Power RS because I like the slicks on the shoulders for dry weather cornering and if its raining, ill take my durango to work instead.

I would rate them as a confidence building tire for aggressive riding. Fast warm up time and never a thought of nervousness.

I’m on the stock tires with around 3500 miles. I’m starting to think I don’t ride very aggressively. A couple weeks ago my knee touched down (first time) and I also hit my feeler on GMR (Glendora Mountain Road) in SoCal. Hey, apparently you do ride aggressively enough. He he. You can install shorter feelers, if you want more clearance, while also protecting your bike and yourself from touching any hard parts first (the long feelers are there in case you carry a passsenger with a combined weight of 375 lbs). As far as rear tire wear, it depends a lot on the type of road you ride, and how aggressive you're with the throttle and brakes. Since I never use the rear brake, and I'm not aggressive with the throttle most of the time, the main reason for my early rear tire wear are the abrasive roads prevalent in the desert southwest. Finally, the beauty of the Road 5 tires, is they have a soft compound on the sides (probably the same as the RS tires, but not certain), basically providing the same cornering capability of a sport tire, but with a harder center compound to avoid early wear, while also being better in the cold, in the rain, and providing a much longer life. They're the perfect tire for me because I don't seek maximum grip for straight line acceleration or braking, something you need at the track. I only want maximum grip while leaned over, which I do get with those tires. They're still are pretty darn good in the middle, but wanted to point out what you'd be giving up with them, so you can make an informed decision next time .

I've tried quite few sets of tyres on my mt10sp the Michelin power RS was my least favourite. Spirited riding through the twistys they let go unexpectedly at least four times (front & back same time) The side wall is too soft for my liking. Tried more pressure to account for sidewall = more sliding. My favs so far for what its worth. 1.Dunlop Q3+ ( Best all round for Mt10 imho) 2.Pirelli Diablo corsa 11(Bit pricier! Bring the cost down Pirelli you will sell more 3.Metzeler Ractec RR k3 (my favourite but wear out quicker)

I got the Power RS on the bike now. I gotta say that I am really loving these tires. Not that the battlax tires were bad, but I feel more confident with these. Not sure what it is about them, I just feel more in control. They make me want to ride harder, accelerate faster, cut corners sharper.
