Thought, I would post my '14 S1KRR. Anyone here, test rode or own '20 S1KRR? I am interested, in your opinion on '20 S1KRR.

Doubt you'll find much help here, but if you want to wait 2+ months, I could comment on differences from the 2018 model to the 2020, if interested. Rode the 2018 (due to BMW not making a 2019) last April at SBS Laguna Seca for 2 full days (2-day camp), and will ride a 2020 in May 26-27 (another 2-day camp) at Barber. I've owned many BMWs in the past, so I'm quite familiar with them outside the track as well. But although I prefer my MT-10 over any BMW I've owned in the past, there's no comparison to a S1000RR at the track, period. Two totally different bikes, for different uses.

is there a reason why people use dedicated gps vs their phones? Likely for many, to have a satellite signal vs a cell signal. Off the main roads in many areas cell service can get spotty. But Sat Nav works almost everywhere. You can pre-load routes into many cell based navigation apps. But if you don’t have service and need directions from your current location to where you want to be, you’re probably going to have to wing it till you get to a location with service.

Thought, I would post my '14 S1KRR. Anyone here, test rode or own '20 S1KRR? I am interested, in your opinion on '20 S1KRR. You may already be a member of this forum, but if not there is a wealth of knowledge here: www.s1000rrforum.com/I joined it when they introduced the 2020 as I was curious about it. I did demo ride one at a BMW event but was only for about 30 minutes and couldn’t really wring it out put it through the paces in the curves. I also have never ridden previous gens, so no frame of reference to compare to. The one thing that is probably pretty definitive at this point, from all of the feedback on forums and YouTube, is that the flat spot in 2nd and 3rd gear is for real (ECU restricted for emission/noise reasons on US models). You really aren’t getting what you are paying for (in terms of power) without an ECU flash. Almost all modern bikes are ECU restricted somewhat, for various reasons. But the 2020 S1000rr may be the most egregious example to date. Screen shot images are taken from the following video comparing stock bike to ECU flash, same day and same dyno. 44 HP difference in 2nd gear at 7500 rpm, nuts. The stock power curves just look stupid compared to the flash curves, it is blatantly obvious they just chopped the power off to meet regulations. And if you watch the video, the power comes on so much harder with the ECU flash you can feel/hear the difference through the video. Everything else about the bike appears to be world class in terms of current year production super sports, but I obviously can’t speak it personally.

Hey elptxjc, thanks for the reply. Well they did build ’19 S1KRR but no different with ’18 S1KRR. Was looking for ’19 but all sold out. ’20 is completely redesigned. Therefore, would not be interested in buying ’20 S1KRR. I would wait for ’21. Yes, let me know your opinion then. Thinking of test ride ’20. That’s how I bought my ’14. Rode a ’14 demo bike to the mountain for 100 miles. Next day, bought the bike.
MT-10 raw power in lower RPM reminds me of Mike Tyson’s brutal raw power in first round. Not many fighters survived the first round in Tyson’s hey-day. My ’13 ZX14R and ’14 S1KRR are more refined but my ’19 MT-10 can put me in harm’s way very quickly. Let me just put it this way: If I put 200% attention when I ride my ZX14R or S1KRR, I will put 400% attention when I ride my MT-10. It is definitely an adrenalin rush bike, especially, when you ride it in the mountain like a sport bike.
Hey kohtachi, like pch1978 said, mainly its reception. You will appreciate dedicated GPS more when you are deep in the backroads. ZUMO 595 LM (best dedicated motorcycle GPS) that I bought is not cheap - $600.00. You can get an iPhone for that price.
Hey pch1978, no, I am not a member of a BMW forum. Thought I would post RR here, hoping that someone owns a ’20 RR. Also, thanks for your input on ’20 RR.

It was wired. See picture. With this type of connection or wiring, Zumo MUST be removed when the motorcycle is OFF, otherwise, Zumo will drain the battery. Did you solder the cables to the ring terminals or just crimp and heat shrink them?

No solder and heat shrink. Just crimped the cables to the rings by using crimper tool.

COVID19 affecting motorcyclists:1. Avoid large gatherings 2. Don’t touch your face 3. Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces on your bike 4. Carry sanitizer 5. Consider keeping your gear in the garage

Motorcycling is probably the safest COVID-19 activity you can do , since you're riding alone, with a helmet, and gloves already (assuming you do that ). The only potential issue is if you're riding with a 'group' (meaning 1 or more riding buddies), just keep your distance at lunch/gas/etc. breaks.
Having said that, I don't do that where I live, since there's nowhere fun to ride. Was thinking of putting the bike on my truck and go to either Big Bend or Texas between chemos (current one ends April 03), but it's getting worse and worse to travel due to extended restrictions. And I'm more vulnerable too, so might have to stay 'quarantined'. But hey, at least I won't be the only one .

The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Isn't this how flu virus in the US get transmit it, also? Anyway, CDC recommended a distance of 6 ft apart from person to person in public places. Technical name for it is "Social Distancing!"

Yeah, remind the panic buyers in line to get into Walmart about social distancing.

I had one dude on a Facebook group yesterday recommending we don't ride anymore because if we crash, we are going to take up an ICU bed for someone with the virus.
I'm like come on dude, We're not near that point yet. New York might be a week away from that but come on. We can't just sit in our houses and do nothing.

And even then, we could still get sick sitting in our houses doing nothing from cancer, or something esle . I would probably take less risks when riding aggressively (maybe a 10th less, due to my condition), but I doubt I'll be able to anytime soon. Bottom line is living is a risk in itself, so we can't remove all risk from our lives, even if we wanted to.

It’s like catch-22. Damn if you do, damn if you don’t. I agree with you guys, what’s happening now is getting ridiculous, IMO. Gym(s) are closed, some restaurant(s) are closed, discovered today, my local Starbucks is closed indefinitely, cannot dine in in restaurants that are open -> can only buy to go. People line up to get junk foods (bags of chips and can foods). Stay at home for two weeks eating junk foods and lacking physical movements will make more people unhealthy and in turn they become more vulnerable to viruses (flu virus, corona virus, etc.). Don’t know if this two weeks self isolation will make a difference. CDC or Dr. Fauci knows better, right? Several firemen that I talked to sometimes, it is better to let the fire burn itself out. Anyway, I am still riding my motorcycles, exercising by walking/bicycling and no panic buying.

Additional closures: Banks, trails, parks, beaches, theaters, malls and I am sure there are more. Non-essential -> another technical name to familiarize with. Can understand malls and theaters are non-essential but banks (only ATMs are open), trails, parks and beaches are non-essential? If you are not computer literate or don’t speak/understand English fluently, good luck paying your credit card. Oh, there is one ice cream place is open. Isn’t ice cream place belong to non-essential category? I am confused but I am not complaining; I love my rocky road ice cream on a cone.
Anyone here lives in Appalachian Mountains? How’s life there? Any disruption?
Another county lockdown in China recently: You must have special permit to leave your home and have your temperature taken and wear face mask. Cars can only be driven on alternate days, depending on their license plate number. Per family, only one member can go out for groceries once every two days.
Considering where I am, I should consider myself fortunate.

Where do you live? I'm in El Paso, TX, and another round of restrictions were implemented yesterday. Not that many cases here (68 so far), but with this virus, it's imperative to start EARLY. Even here with 68 cases, there're at least hundreds more infected already. A national lockdown should have been implemented, to minimize disruptions. Like this, it'll take many months more, city by city going thru the same thing. Stupid. Anyway, we have banks open, but need an appointment to get in, and one by one. I already deposited on my IRAs, and took some money out, so don't have to go anymore. At least here in the US, it'll be at least 2 very bad months, with April being the worst. Without a national lockdown implemented early on (most large cities and/or states already did that on their own, at least), recovery will take much longer, so we'll see how the economy looks like at the other end . Good time to buy another motorcycle . I'm in chemo, so was in 'lockdown' anyway. Ha ha. Stay safe, brother.

I’m somewhere in RPV CA. Wow bro, yeah, you better quarantine yourself to avoid infection. Has your treatment been delayed? Everybody is hoping that by end of April or early May, COVID-19 and flu viruses will burn themselves out due to warmer temperature. New York state is the epicenter of COVID-19: 92,381 cases, 2,468 people have died that’s about 2.67% fatality. Flu virus in New York state to date: 156,659 cases but I cannot get data how many people have died from flu virus. New York state in 2017: 4,517 people died from flu/pneumonia.
No, don’t buy another motorcycle. Motorcycle depreciates. If you have disposable money it’s better to buy stocks (buy low sell high) @ this time; unfortunately, I cannot tell you which stocks to buy.
