Hello I'm new to the group and the mt10. I'm 300lbs and around 6ft3 and was wondering if anybody had any tips on setting up suspension on this bike for big guys. I know I'm a big guy but I love the bike and just want to fine tune it a bit for my size if possible without a re-spring if possible

I don't have specifics for you (others will, for sure), but all I can tell you is with that weight, you absolutely need to replace your suspension. So I'd start coming up with a budget, so other heavier guys can help you better . And yes, you could just ride it with the stock suspension, but you'd miss what it's capable of. I'd be like towing a trailer with a sports car. You'll be amazed what it can do once dialed in to your weight. Good luck.

I’m 6’1” and 250. I’d suggest you at least re-spring it but recommend you do cartridges up front and a new shock out back, all valved and sprung for your weight. You won’t regret it. Everything about the ride will be better.

All ready to ride I've upgraded my suspension for my weight of 225/ I went with AK-20 cartridges from Traxxion Dynamics for the forks & A Penske shock from Traxxion at rear. Amazing difference in ride & comfort.

I’m 6’5” 250...maybe come over and state this comment in person...I’ll find a new place to store the stock spring I had removed as per my suspension tuner’s recommendations....

I’m an ex pro ball player and the same size—6’3 and just south of 300lbs. I’m currently on stock suspension and just set the sag and small adjustments for pre load. I’m obviously bottoming out the forks damn near constantly and sliding around a good bit but I can say that for the street and up to early expert track times—it’s not a big deal to run the stock stuff. If you’re light on the bars and smooth on the throttle...there’s quite a bit of room in the factory stuff. Take it to your local race shop and have it resprung for your weight and ability and it’ll become a whole new bike. In the meantime...get used to sliding and buying lots of tires. Just installed my second rear at 2.6k miles and living the dream.

Recently purchased a 2017 FZ10 with less then 3k miles. I am a heavy rider 350lb. What changes to the suspension can i make? Have not adjusted the rear spring. Any suggestions besides losing weight!

You need to changed springs at the very least. When you change springs the valving will be off for the rate of springs. Unfortunately, the only way to get it set it for your weight is to re-spring and re-valve. A new rear shock is a better option than re-valving the stock one in my opinion. Front forks are good with spring/valving or you can install GP or AK20 cartridges.

The load capacity of the FZ/MT 10 is 370 Lbs. As a start set the sag as best you can, this may mean maxing the preload front and rear. You won't know until you take some measurements. As for suspension settings start with the factory settings, you can adjust as necessary for ride comfort or handling depending on your riding style, start with the basics. Like others have said, you may need to make some suspension upgrades.
