Oil threads have started more arguments and gotten more people banned from from bike forums than any other topic. Ha ha, so lets start one!
Me, I use Shell Rotella Synthetic. I tend to change my oil more often than others. Rotella is cheap and the wear tests results are phenomenal. I buy it in bulk and put it in every four stroke engine that own. Cars, trucks, bikes, lawnmower, everything. Never have had a problem with engines.
What oil are you using?

I'm actually using Yamalube because they said if you use their oil and filter and log it online they give you a 20 year 100,000 mile warranty.

I used Yamalube on my FZ-10 as well.
On my R6 track bike I was using Motul 300V and I generally use Motorex in my KTM dirtbikes.

I use Mobil 1 and change it every 4,000 miles. I know I am wasting money, but I am fine with that.

I also used to run on Shell Rotella T6 in my FZ-1,but i also discovered that i could get a jug of Motul 7100 for about the same price, so, so far the -10 has only seen the Motul liquid. I change it every 5000km and used Hi-flo HF-204 oil filter.

On my two stroke bikes I use Rotella in the bottom end, and Amsoil Sabre for premix. It's super concentrated and I mix it at 80-1 but it can be used at even 100-1. Sounds crazy but during top end rebuilds there is still excess oil pooled up under the piston.

How often are you changing your oil? Since it is ester based I was just curious! Thanks Somewhere between 3500 and 4000 or once a year if riding under that. I've only preformed the first oil change on the FZ so far. It will be a while before I change again.

Appreciate the information. I think once my maintenance contract is up, I will move to this oil.

I've decided to use Maxima Extra 4 10W40 for the FZ10. I use Motul 300V 5W40 for the R3. I used Amsoil 20W50 Twin for my F800GS Adventure, which I very recently traded in for the FZ10 (without regret).
When making a decision as to the FZ, I decided to go with Maxima Extra instead of 300V due to 300V's high dose of molybdenum, a friction modifier used to mitigate extraordinary heat from high-revving track conditions. Many manufacturers specify to not use oils that contain any trace of moly (including BMW). It's my understanding that Maxima Ultra and Maxima Extra are the same oil, except the Ultra contains moly and the Extra does not. In any event, the data sheet for the Maxima Extra is outstanding and I'm hoping for good results (smooth shifts, cool running). I've been able to confirm, in speaking with Maxima, that the NOACK volotility number for the Extra is below 8, which is a rather remarkable number for a 10W40.
