OK, I had to wait a month to get my bike shipped from Japan/Tacoma. I then had to wait a month for the check transfer, signing the certificate of origin, and then getting the registration/tags sent to me. The registration/tags came in the mail yesterday and when I was getting ready to put the tags on....then the rain came. Today was beautiful and I got to go on the first ride. Mind you I had not even sat on an MT-10 before I bought it and it has been five years since I have ridden anything. I based my buying decision on feedback from youtube videos and forum members. Everyone that talked about this bike was in AWE! My last bike being a Kawasaki ZX14, I was used to power, but this bike feels more like a heavy dirtbike/motard with double the horsepower and torque! Comparing the power between the ZX14 and MT-10, I would say the MT-10 is RAW Power. The ZX14 was smoother and more predictable. It will take me a little time to get used to the steering geometry and low speed handling (ZX wasnt' great either), but I really like the seating position, bar position, etc. I really like this bike and can't wait to receive my TOCE Exhaust and get her mapped. The picture of my first ride is on the newly opened section of the Foothills Parkway in Blount County, TN. It connects to US129 and the Dragon. I highly recommend this parkway because of the views and fresh new pavement. The old established foothills parkway was my favorite riding/stomping grounds and now this parkway has been doubled in length! New bike, New parkway, I am in HEAVEN!!!

Congratulations on your new ride.
My other bike is a ZX14R.
Strange how two high powered bikes can be so different.
I find the kwak refined and user friendly, surprisingly so for a 200 bhp bike.
The MT on the other hand is completely bonkers!
Enjoy!

The ride today helped me get some break-in miles so that I can eventually let her run WILD!

Do you live in the Maryville area? I do and ride the roads you mention quite often. I have a 2017 FZ-10 which I purchased new. I love the old section of the Foothills Parkway. The new section while having the new pavement doesn't impress me. Other than a shortcut to Pigeon Forge I have little use for it. The Dragon for me is just a way to get to Deal's Gap where I like to spend some time looking at all the different bikes from all other and talk to some of the people. The roads around there are great to include the Cherohala Skyway.

DNDfindley, Yes, I live in Maryville. I love the whole Foothills Parkway, but the old section will always be my favorite! I still haven't ridden a bike on the Cherohala Skyway, but I have been on it in a car and it is for sure on my list. Maybe we can get together and do some riding. It would be cool to have an MT Group Ride!

Other than being very hot this Saturday looks good weather wise. Memorial Day weekend means a lot of people on the road but that doesn't bother me. We could meet at the post office in Walland, say about 9AM. From there it would be the Foothills Parkway and on to the Dragon and Deal's Gap. From there of course we could do the Cherohala Skyway and Tellico Plains. We would recognize each other because I think we would be the only FZ/MT's in Walland. I plan on being there and taking that ride. If you can make it - great, and if you don't show that's okay too.
