Quick question as I am getting mixed reviews. Looking at tires for the FZ10. I got a very heavy hand and love to break the rear end loose into a wheelie lol. I got alot of people suggesting the RS10, which I know to be a street legal track tire. On a 600 i remember getting ok life from it, however I am afraid on this tire shredding torq monster, it will eat that tire in less than 1k. Input?
My second choice based on reading and no actual experience is the pilot road 5. The biggest concern is a ton of people that ride sport bikes say the tire wont feel right on the bike and is too hard for this light nimble bike, however the life of the tire will great.
My riding consists of 90% commute and 10% fun twisties on the weekend.

Unless you're tracking your bike... and you're a really good rider, you don't need anything more than Pilot 5s . And no, the FZ/MT-10 is not a super sport bike, like an R1; it has more modest limits. Sport/summer tires last way less than sport-touring tires, are more expensive, and need to be up to temperature to perform better than sport-touring ones, so they perform worse in cooler weather. Keep that in mind too. Good luck.

The RS10s are not a good choice for someone who does 90 % commuting. I have heard from friends who ride 1000s in the canyons they only get about 1k on a rear. You need a sport touring tire for sure.

Get a sport touring tire. Youll have more grip in everyday riding. By popping wheelies, im sure youre mostly just riding along on a straight path and deckde a wheelie will be fun. Youll have little heat in them at that point so you will have less traction with race tires to do your thing. Also most twistys are twisty follwed by straight sections, so you lose the heat (unless you ride crazy illegally) due to the cool wind blasting on your tires and the next corner will leave you with less grip again.
A track tire needs constant force to stay hot, so either corner, heavy acceleration or heavy braking. Any coasting will cool them down and make them hard and slippery.

Have you considered a hypersport tire? Q3+, Power RS, S22, Rosso III, etc
I’ve run the Q3 and Q3+ on an FZ09. I’d get about 4k miles before it started getting a bit square. I’d run it until 5k miles.
At the California superbike school, they were running Q3+ tires on their rental S1000RRs. It had quite a lot of grip.

Don't be afraid of sport touring tire prices. If you get a sport touring tire that lasts for 8000 miles at $200 vs a sport tire that's lasts for 3000 miles at $150, do the math. The sport touring tires are cheaper in the long run.

Havent really looked into hypersport, not sure the difference between a hypersport and something like the RS10. As to the prices, lol honestly thats why i came with the question because i would rather buy a longer lasting tire at a higher price than multiple stickier tires. The price difference for my cost on the RS10 vs the PR5 is pretty small lol. I like to do research before making purchases and everything considered there doesnt seem to be a wealth of info on the fz/mt10 like there are on other machines.

Also going to be needing tires soon, I'm between the Dunlop Roadsmart 3 and Michelin pilot 5. Anyone tried both? Read an article that had the roadsmart 3 putting down much faster lap times after 4-5k miles vs the Michelin pilot road 4 GT with the same miles.

Look at the metzeler m7rr as well. Run them on all my bikes and they are great tyre. Good wet weather and mileage as well as dry grip. I get 8k to 9k kms out of a rear on the mt10. They also love lower pressure for when you want to get on it at the track.
They are in the same hypersport category like the Rosso 3 and q3.

Lap times are misinformation for tires you are going to use on the street. You will never be able to put that much heat into them on the street.
The ContiSportAttack 3 are pretty good "best of both worlds"

I have them on my FJR For the last 3 sets and love them. Same for a buddy that has a 2015 vfr1200. I have tried several tire models and brands over the years and this is the one I'm sticking with.(pun intended) Great all round tire with exceptional wet grip as well.

I love M7RRs but they aren’t as quick steering as say the Diablo Rossi Corsas. They slowed down the steering on my Street Triple R but once I had got over that they were exemplary!
superb grip in the wet or day and great wear rates.

Have a set of Michelin Fives and love them. Likely will get them again when needed.

I have very recently put on the PR5s and so far like them, but really haven't had them on for long. Funny story - my previous rear tire was very flat in the middle before the switch, and greatly affected the handling. Not that I noticed it then, but now I get in trouble because the bike tips into corners way too easily and I have to keep correcting outwards... 😏 I'm going for two track days in June, I'll report back with how they handle that.

So PR5's on the track, wet and dry, are amazing. Total confidence. If course I've never ridden a bike with actual track tires, but for my experience these tires had excellent stickability. Wet start on the second day made no difference; the tires were perfect. Absolutely love them.

I just changed over from the stock tired about a month ago to the Dunlop Q3 Plus front/rear and I love them, much better performance in corners and in wet than the stock tires. And they are dual compound so I should get some decent life on them.

I have a 17' and after original rear done @ 4,000 km Then kaput I put Bstone Evo 30 on rear and did boat loads of wheelies and it took a screw in the middle which I used roadside plug kit and did 3,000 km.like that.Still lots of life but going to B.C. so got Avon Spirit ST front and rear. They are fantastic for rain...I ran all the way to 70 kph and lay on brakes...straight line and no lockup. They heat up quick and dive quick into corners.Really digging them. Can not say about longevity yet.
