DIY tail tidy while maintaining stock look...

Hello all
I acquired an MT10 a few weeks back and while waiting for the temps to heat up in Ontario, decided to find a way to change the stock tail assembly. Now I guess one sort of 'advantage' (for lack of a better word) is that I am a Toolmaker by trade so have access to various pieces of equipment and a TIG welder. Another member asked me to show the project regardless so here it goes.
Started by disassembling the entire unit where possible. If you are not able to do this yourself, then the rest of the mods may be outside your wheelhouse..
I cut (zip wheeled) the bracket smaller. It fits quite well inside each other. I then welded the two together and painted. Then I carefully dremelled off the key cover so it would still fit and cover the keyhole. Then used a Dremel to cut the lower part of the plastic off. I then cut the original license plate bracket off and drilled new holes to mount the plate nice and high. The concept still used all the stock turn signals and their mounts as well as all four screws on the other metal bracket that is behind the plate. The LED plate lamp stays as well.
I am pretty happy with the results as it was at no cost and maintains the stock look.

I will post another thread that involves modifying the stock windscreen to accommodate knuckle guards...enough mods!.. time to ride this baby!!!
