First of all, the mishap is relatively minor, but the help is very necessary, and the appreciation for help is monumental! For reasons unknown, something decided to fall off a top shelf in my garage and land on my beloved Yammie, snapping the thin plastic part. Things could have been much worse indeed, but really, I didn't need this. In any event the piece that broke is one of the thin plastic wings, not surrounding the tail light (of which I kicked one once and snapped it!) but the piece right along side the mini backrest and strap on the stock seat. Perhaps if it weren't so FRIGID the plastic would have flexed instead of snapping. Please refer to photos and even the FZ-10 pic on top of the page, except that mine is on the clutch and shift lever side, NOT the brake side, if that makes a difference. First thing I did was remove the seat for what I thought would be a 5 minute job. Then I proceeded to remove one standard bolt, one hex bolt, and a Philips head screw. From underneath I am looking at plastic pop rivets which I am not certain need to be removed. I am at my wit's end. Whoever designed this thing is either a genius, insane, or both, since its proper removal eludes me ENTIRELY. I was toying with the idea of removing the crank shaft and associated components along with the tranny for starters, but I figured I'd better ask here first. Any and all assistance would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Im guessing you are trying to remove that wing part?
You need to pull off the whole panel that it sits on, then youll be able to get the wing part off by a philips screw on the iside of that panel.

YES plastic push pins underneath have to be removed...then as stated, phillips screws from the inside of the panel. Just went through this for painting this week. Good luck with the repair

Thank you both very much for your input!!
Yes I am trying to remove that OUTER wing part which snapped like a dry twig in my cold garage. I see by the instructions that I need to remove the REAR COWLING (#3) and REAR SIDE COVER (#4) together. That I finally get thanks to you folks!
Can you please tell me if I need to remove the rear cowling (#1) and tail covers (#6 & #7) also??
Did this information come from a shop manual or are these exploded views available online?
Again, my most sincere thanks and appreciation! I had about 9 tools in one hand and I was scratching my head with the other!!!

You need to remove #1 too, but #6 and #7 are screwed onto #1 and come off with it, so no keet to pull them off Its from the service manual, just google "FZ-10 (or MT-10 cant remember which) service manual" and click on the result from fz10.org with a link to a free download
