Holy Moly! 11,000 miles in 11 days? As in, 1,000 miles per day, 11 days in a row? That’s pretty crazy.
Congrats on the new machine.

No. The minimum requirement to enter the Iron Butt Association is to ride 1000 miles within 24 hours. The rally is a marathon of 11 days of the minimum requirement daily. That is indeed insane.

Did some snooping around, apparently they have a 100CCC challenge, where you ride from coast to coast AND BACK AGAIN in less than 100 hours.
Do they test the riders for focus enhancing/fatigue reducing drugs after these things? I almost wouldnt be surprised, given that at an average speed of 60 mph you would only get some 6 hours of non riding a day. Sounds dangerous.
Another is the 100k club, its for those who put 100k miles on their bike within a year.

It is indeed 11000 miles in 11 days 1000 per day. I promise there were no drugs involved. When your riding that kind of endurance ride is all about staying on the bike and keeping in moving. No drugs No caffeine those things may help short term but don't work for long endurance. I've also done the Great Lakes challenge which is riding around ALL 5 Great lakes in under 100 hour. I have a 4.5 gallon Fuel Cell on the FJR which makes for 11 gallons of gas total which equals over 400 mile range between fill ups. I also have a Russell Day Long Saddle which helps keep my butt in the seat. The trick is to keep moving and minimize time at stops.

Ha! Well, kudos to you, sir, for those accomplishments. I was thinking...those 11,000 miles on the FZ/MT-10 would mean fueling up 110 times during those 11 days! Haha! Think how much time would be spent just stopping for fuel 110 times.

Think how much time would be spent just stopping for fuel 110 times. A fuel cell is almost a necessity for IBA rides. Gas stops can really drag down your avg mph so the fewer the better. I don't think i will be doing any IBA rides on the FZ10
