Glad I live far away from there here in Texas. Is there anything that you can do in California or everything pretty much illegal there? Lol 😂

I wanted to move there, but unfortunately I had to start a career and now I pay taxes. I sure wish other states had California's weather and natural beauty without their state govt.

The ticket should be easy to fight. Just take your ticket and keep your mouth shut. Take it to court, how did the officer determine your bike was making 95 DB while moving with other traffic and sounds nearby along with other structures or landscape that may be reflecting sound back and causing a higher reading. There's not too many motorcycle exhausts that should be pushing 95 dB at idle and you have no requirements to even start up your bike at the side of the road when you get pulled over, let alone rev it. So just keep your cool and fight it in court and you should be fine.
The law defines a 95 DB reading as above the limit. Which means they have to accurately measure and record that with a calibrated reader. That's almost impossible to do from the side of the road measuring into traffic and unless you got some crazy loud exhaust, they shouldn't get that reading at idle.
Remember it's the government's burden to prove beyond a reasonable doubt in court that you violated a law. Any doubt you can put into a judges mind, like the reasons I listed above, should get this case dismissed. You don't have to walk into court and prove shit, you just have to walk into court and prove the government is wrong.

I'm sure the 95dB reading is NOT at idle, but that link didn't mention the method. But yes, cops definitely require to have a dB meter for such tickets, just like they require radars to measure speed and ticket you for it. But in addition to dB meters, they'll probably need a tape measure as well, since the only way to measure all vehicles when stopped is to fire up the engine, put the dB meter 'x' feet from the end of the muffler, and rev engine to 'x' rpm. Having said that, I don't live in CA, but I'd actually welcome that rule in every state. Overly loud engines are obnoxious as hell to most reasonable people, even the sweet sounding ones. Besides, most of those ear-piercing loud exhausts are decatted, which is not good for the environment either, so they killed 2 birds with one stone. And I'm no democrat or tree-hugger, but simply a motorsports enthusiast with respect for others and the planet . Balance is always good for a peaceful society. You can have a loud exhaust, but just not overly loud to piss off your neighbors and the motoring public. You can have guns, but not anybody should be able to buy them. Etc. I don't have a problem with reasonable, common-sense rules, even if they affect me (like speed limits, getting rid of assault weapons, etc). Let the flaming begin. Ha ha.

I have to agree with the pipes being too loud. Especially when people straight pipe harleys making them sound like constant gunfire. You know the type, when they ride past you naturally make a wrinkly squint face. Sportbikes in my opinion usually dont sound that loud during normal riding even decated, but if its someone who bounces off the rev limiter every 10 seconds Im glad they get fined. Id have a few things to say about the guns but lets keep that out of this forum

And let's not forget the riders who swear that 'loud pipes save lives' as one of the reasons they run straight pipes or a decatted system. If you are relying on your engine racket to keep you safe your road craft needs some work. First thing, stay out of blind spots of other vehicles, then practice your handling skills in case you need to make a quick move. Too many riders just blindly ride along and don't track or keep aware of the cage drivers around them. Safety is in YOUR hands and not in the loudness of the bike.
Of course you could always buy a H-D Livewire electric bike which is now on sale 'starting at $29,799'. These will probably sound like a sewing machine coming down the road.

Also, loud pipes dont tell car drivers that you are in their blindspot. It tells car drivers that there is some obnoxious biker somewhere within a 1/4 mile radius. I get why one would want to do it to their bike, just dont try to justify it with anything else but "i like the sound" and "it turns heads" (usually to see who the cunt making a racket is tbh)

I have always loved the sound of unrestricted power. It started as a kid with two stroke motorcycles, then it evolved into small block V8s with headers (way before cats), and then inline four motorcycles with headers! I try not to annoy others and only open it up occasionally!
