Yes, I have jacked many of my bikes up with a car jack and a block wood under the headers. Me too... but was asking about this specific bike . I know you're not lifting the whole 240 lbs (that's what the front weighs normally. Rear 220), since it's only 80 with the lift in place, but simple physics dictates it'd be more than that closer to the pivot point. It should be around 125# in my estimation. The potential problem is headers can sometimes be too weak for that job, so don't want to be the first to try it. I'm sure that's exactly why Abba discontinued that contraption. I'd be more inclined to try from the drain plug, since the aluminum oil pan seems strong enough, but again, don't want to be the first to try it out . I don't really need a stand right now, so will continue following up this thread (and others) and see if there's a proven option other than a bulky stand. Abba hasn't replied about the damage or suggestion I made for the front arm, and if they don't, no way I'd ever spend another penny on them, especially when a cheaper front stand is safer and easier to use with their superbike stand.

I personally would not lift it from the headers, but that might be because in my field "dont put stress on anything that is not designed to withstand stress" has been hammered into my mind surely thousands of times.
Id spend the extra money for a stand that lifts the front by the "steering axle" (cant remember the correct name now) and live with the peace of mind that Im not putting huge torsion stress on the headers, exhaust system, linkages in the exhaust system or the engine block.
Also, it doesnt sound like its very well balanced when jaking it up from the kinda U formation headers.
I went to my closest autoparts shop and bough a complete unbranded front stand for 90€. It does allow the bike to rock a little but i can assure you that it keeps the bike way more secure than a jackstand and a 2x4. Ive trusted it enough to do some agressive hand polishing of the tank while both wheels and the fork tubes are off.

I'm with you on that . I'll probably end up buying this one when I need it: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/trackside-front-paddock-stand . Or if/when Revzilla put it on sale for $50 again, whichever occurs first. Another option would be to install a hook on the garage ceiling and use a ratcheting strap to lift the bike from the middle of the handlebars, but I prefer a stand. Thanks for chiming in .

Anyway, why not just jack it up with some wood under the headers while on the ABBA stand? This is exactly what I have been doing for years on various bikes...

This is exactly what I have been doing for years on various bikes... How about the FZ/MT-10??? I've done it on other bikes too, but that doesn't answer my question . Hey gang, heard from Abba, and they offered the front arm/bracket for the $85 it'd have cost to order them initially. Good gesture, but need to think if I want it or not. It's only advantage to me is I can hang it. This aluminum stand is another option, which costs $50 shipped: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C1ZHEW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1TFBK3C7LO58P&psc=1 . Remember in my case I'm only dealing with 80 lbs, so any stand would be more than sturdy enough for that weight. Thanks. EDIT: Ended up ordering the arm with the bracket, at the request of my wife. Plus with other lifts, the rear wheel might touch the ground, so at least I know the arm should work, even if both wheels barely clear the floor. I have nowhere to push the bike down from the upper rear (tailbag in place), so will have to use the slider/spool at the end of the swingarm. Thanks again for all the help folks.

I have the Pitbull Front and Rear stands I have had them for years ( bought them when I bought my CBR100RR in 2006) and love them. I can remove both wheels for tire changes or cleaning or whatever. They are extremely stabil. I will use them in the winter time and leave my bike on them for months at a time and have no concerns whatsoever. I know there a little pricey but I also believe you get what you pay for and when you consider how long I have been using them there really not that expensive.

Don't go down that road dude, Pitbulls are O-U-T for this poster.

I know there a little pricey but I also believe you get what you pay for and when you consider how long I have been using them there really not that expensive. Like Evitzee said, I specifically ruled them out. I've owned them before. I simply don't like them. And actually, the Abba is more expensive, especially with the brackets (which I got), but it's superior to the Pitbull IMO, so well justified. Plus basically zero chance of dropping the bike, while there's a lot higher probability with a regular stand, due to no grab handles whatsoever, and a tail bag fitted permanently on my bike. But to each his own. At least the Pitbull is the best of the regular stands; I can give you that .

I sure wasn't looking to start anything just wanted to share my experience. The Pitbulls are the only stands I have ever owned so I really can compare it to the others. I do appreciate you starting this thread because after seeing the Abba Sky Lift I will most likely own one of those very soon that is the coolest thing I've seen. I used to have an Air powered lift that I drove my bike up on but I was always worried I would drop the bike and being an extra 8" up with short legs that would have been a disaster.

Another option is a front chock which retails at around £50 in the UK so I can use my Constands centre lift. Just ride into the chock then step off the bike, push it into the two frame holes and pull down the handle to lift the bike. So much quicker than anything else and and no messing around. I got it for my Daytona but now that has gone I need the fitting kit for the 10. Cost should be around £285 but someone cocked up on ebay 2 years ago around Christmas time and I got it for £85 which is the fitting kit price!! The kit is the same as the Warrior spider stand or Jac-1 centre stand.
Here's my Abba stainless copy with the front lift and both wheels removed from the R1 for powder coat. The advantage is either stand does not get in the way like regular stands. Although you are unable to remove the swingarm with the centre stand whilst with the ABBA you can purchase the swingarm removal adaptors which use the footrest fixings, so it really is a universal stand. Adaptors usually run at around £25 a pair for different bikes although my mate makes all my adaptors as he did my stand.
