Ok, in the UK we have Personal Contract Purchase plans to buy a vehicle. You basically stick down a deposit and the bike is yours for the term for a monthly cost. Once you agree the terms you get offered a guaranteed final value for the bike at the end of the term. This is if the bike is returned in the condition and for the estimated milage and any difference must be put right (as in damage) and in the case of excess milage a fee per mile must be paid. You are basically renting the vehicle but all it costs you is effectively the depreciation cost.
I am not a fan of this as I like to have collateral in a vehicle so I would rather buy outright or take a regular finance plan on it.
Even though I have been a constant litre bike owner for over 20 years, I did purchase a 675 Street Triple for a while and a Daytona 675 after this, and both were amazing bikes which belied their size and the ST3 was a superb bike for the newbie but interestingly it was also a direct competitor for the MT09. Yeah it'll wheelie with some abuse but it won't scare you or make you feel intimidated but it'll certainly excite you.

Do you have any advice to improve the braking? I saw other threads that put olins on...Is this something I should consider? Thank you so much! Ohlins make the suspension mate, and whilst suspension will make a difference to the riding on a track etc (it may even give you a better braked bike due to being set up correctly) I think most people refer to the fact the brakes are not in the same league as the engine as the pad compound is not the best. I just went with SBS Sintered pads which made a huge difference for just £30 ($40). You could change out the master cylinder for a radial one from a company like Brembo or Accossato or you could fit one from the R1 and if going the whole hog then fit braided lines (just £60 from HEL in the UK or $200 plus from Stoltec).
