Does anybody regret doing that mod? The FZ/MT is beautiful as it is IMO, especially with the comfort seat and a tail-tidy (most of us here have both). But the main reason for my comment is the freaking seat. Not only you kill the versatility of the bike with that R1 mod, but the seat looks slightly more comfortable than a concrete park bench. That's why most of us chose the FZ/MT over an R1, but maybe I'm missing something. He he. Happy new year gang.

Not really. Also i have no problem which such kind of seat (may due my job) Than about versatility , i have two mt10 (and other 47 bikes) so not really an issue. Think it is more a illness called tuning Also anybody , Who ?

This looks awesome! I feel like I've seen this swap only twice now. Can you post some more pictures from different angles? Do you have an instagram?

Hi Ghost Rider 1127, I'm a new member who has spent the last 3 months doing a similar mod with a magnesium R1 rear subframe! Its so nice to see I'm not alone in this obsesion.
How did you manage the tank mount?
If I can work out how to do it I will post a couple of photos of my progress.

I really wish Yamaha would do more like Aprilia and just strip down an R1, add some bars, and call it an MT-10. Obviously keep the MT-10 tuning on the motor, too.

Hi Fellas,
i”m doing exactly the same mod a couple of questions what did you do for the the tank mount mod and who did the seat cover for you looks a really great job. Mines a blue bike with silver reaper panels I’m a fortune in right now just want to complete the job and could use your support.

I've done the swap and don't regret it at all. You can make your conversion seat as comfy as you want to make it!
I couldn't get past the look of the standard set up for me Yamaha should have just removed the fairings off the R1 made a couple of subtle changes ala what Aprilia did and the bike would have been better all round

Not really my cup of tea.
Hard to understand why some go to such great lengths to buy bike A and make it like bike B. Body work, brakes, seats, engines, etc....
Why not just buy bike B?

Maybe because some owners consider the MT (and other bikes as well) as a blank slate and like to mod them? Just a thought...

I've added or changed many things on my MT-10. I was specifically questioning the desire to mod bike A to be just like bike B. If you want your bike to be like another so badly why not just buy the other bike to begin with?

I think in this particular instance...and for me as well...the R1 has the looks, but the 10 has the ergonomics and comfort. So why not do a little surgery to try and achieve the best of both? Makes me wonder if the "older" R1 riders have a thread somewhere on swapping their handle bars for ours? LOL
