So I got and installed the Yamaha Frame Slider kit for my MT10. But I dont think it fits correctly. On the Left side of the bike, when I tighten down the bolt, the slider actually presses against the fairing. Im pretty sure that this will damage the paint over time. Has anyone else had this issue? Sorry if this was addressed already, I tried to search for it but I was getting too many results to sort through

Any two parts on a motorcycle that touch eachother, in my experience, damages the finish on either one or both parts overtime. I would honestly modify them a little bit to make sure that there is a ~5mm clearance

OP, are you sure you installed them correctly, meaning no parts missing or on the wrong side? Did you double-check the instructions and parts list? I'm sure you noticed the left mounting point on the frame is deeper from the plastic panels than the right, so it requires different hardware to protrude the same amount from the panels. I'd be surprised if an OEM part has those fit issues, but hey, my stock comfort seat also had fit issues (that I fixed), so maybe not that surprised coming from Yamaha. Ha ha. At any rate, if nothing was missing or swapped, and you want to keep them (like I did with the seat -no other choice for me), I'd just adapt it with a properly sized washer or something, and call it a day. Good luck.

Yeah I checked and double checked the install. The parts that come in the kit really can’t be switched around. There is an extra washer on that side of the bike. It’s just the way it fits. I may need to add more washers. I called Yamaha to ask about it and they weren’t helpful. They told me to call the dealer, which I did. The dealer contacted Yamaha. So the story is that I should bring the bike to the dealer and have them look at it. Most likely they say to add a washer or two. Even though this part is brand new, I can’t return it without the cardboard box it came in, which I think is ridiculous. So I guess I’m out $285. At this point I’m probably just going to take them off and put some aftermarket sliders on. These look nice, but they also look like they will just bend into the plastic and ruin the fairings the first time this bike goes down. I really think these sliders are a giant waste of money and after this, I’ll do my best to avoid Yamaha accessories.

The ad here in eBay shows a clearance. There appears to be a spacer fitted to the frame?

Dont expect to achieve anything or even get correct information from them. My experience was when purchasing stiffer springs for the FZ-07. They had it on the page, but it said something like "The NIX-22 cartridge requires this spring". I sent an email to Yamaha and 3 days later they replied "this spring can be fitted without the NIX-22 cartridge or any other parts not included in the package". I ordered them, was about to install them and then i noticed that they are about 3 inches shorter than the OEM springs. Contacted yamaha multiple times about the issue and asked for a refund. Long story short, the springs are still sitting in a corner in the garage. Yamaha would tell you that the V-max seat fits on a WR450 just to sell another seat, then they just say "go there" back and fourth and "ill call you back". Great bikes otherwise.

The ad here in eBay shows a clearance. There appears to be a spacer fitted to the frame? That's what mine looks like on the left side of the bike too. It's the right side that has no clearance. On the right side, it actually crimps down on the fairing during the last few turns of the bolt.

I called customer service and they told me to call the dealer. I called the dealer and they called Yamaha. I think I paid around $285 for these sliders. My wife threw the empty box out when I left it on my workbench. The dealer is telling me that Yamaha wont accept a return without the box. I think its pretty ridiculous. They have the records that this is a brand new item, but im out $285 over a 2 cent box. I am going to avoid yamaha accessories from now on.

Can't get a refund because you don't have the box. Beyond ridiculous customer service/support.

Six months or so ago another owner had these on his bike and he had a tipover, the slider bent over and damaged the fairing. I think they are made more for show than protection. I think it is a flawed design.
