Finally got to ride the bike for the first time in a few weeks, even if it was only to commute to work. Stopped for lunch and the bike was parked outside in the sun the whole time (normally garage-kept at home and at work), come back out to my bike to see bubbles in the gauge cluster. Weren't there on my ride to my lunch stop so I'm assuming the sun heating up the cluster somehow caused the bubbles. It's hard to see but there's actually streaks going down the cluster so I'm wondering if it's moisture which slowly trickled down. I've only had the bike since March with less than 6500 miles on it. Yeesh... now I get to see how good the Yamaha customer service/warranty claim experience is; especially fun during winter time.

Did the previous owner install a screen protector/film on there? Kind of looks like it from the pic

Nope... I bought it brand new. No screen protector.

Oh, I misread. Thought you said you bought it with 6500 miles on it. That is strange. I've parked mine in the direct socal sunlight for hours many times.

Just take the gauge cluster off bike. There is like 7 small screws around the backside perimeter of the gauge. Unscrew them and the lens cover will come off. You can then take a suede cloth or microfiber and clean inside of the lens. Just did mine the other day. After doing it once I can probably do everything start to finish in 10-15 mins. Look up Yamaha parts diagram at the gauge cluster and you can see how it comes apart

I checked it again an hour ago after the bike was parked in my garage for a couple hours and the bubbles are completely gone. Guess the cold air and warm sunlight is causing condensation maybe... can still see the streaks inside the cluster but no more moisture.
Think I'll check the cluster to make sure it's tightened up.

Mine did that and left a streak. So I just wiped the inside of the lens. I didn’t notice any rubber seal when taking mine apart

Glad your issue is revolved, but it looks to me like you forgot to remove the factory lens protector. Did you ever remove it? If not, it might still be there. It was hard to notice on my bike too, but it easily lifted when I ran a finger nail on one corner. It looked hazy before I removed it. Give it a try .

I would've assumed this was removed during dealer prep. I'll have to see if it's on there. Was it a fairly easy to peel up? I'd hate to start digging a fingernail underneath only to find out I'm peeling back something that wasn't meant to be removed.

Don't worry about scratching the screen with your fingernail; you won't. Besides, you only need mild pressure; it lifts right up, and then just peel it off. Dealers rarely remove any of that in my personal experience. By the way, I also had to remove the film on top of the ignition (the black part), so check that one too. Screen is crisper without that film; you'll like it better . Good luck.

I put a speedo angels screen protector on mine. My screen on my last bike got scratched up just from washing it and general wear and tear. Had it since new as well.

A little shot of Plexus and a microfiber towel will tidy the screen up. Plexus should be on everyone's shelf to keep the plastics shiny, including helmets and visors. Also works great on car window tint.

I don't think there's a lens protector still on there. I tried and there doesn't appear to be anything to lift up. If it was supposed to come off easily then there definitely is no lens protector. You can see an edge in my pic, but it isn't peeling up.

I don't think there's a lens protector still on there. Thanks to that excellent close-up, you're correct. Then what is it? Delamination? Condensation? Really weird, but clearly a manufacturing defect, so I'd try to duplicate it before your warranty runs out, show it to a dealer, and get it replaced. Good luck.

Yeah, I have the 4-year Y.E.S. so I'm not too terribly worried about it. When it happened, it was cool air temp but parked in the sun for a bit so I figured warm sun heated up cool air and condensation formed in the cluster. Probably won't be something I'll have to worry about until spring.

Had tiny bubbles appear on mine after some rain. The dealer ordered a replacement under warranty.

Mine only just started doing this , 2016 November build date and 35,000km’s on the clock. I’ll be taking advice from here and removing/cleaning the inside of the screen.
For those interested in how to do this @ 45seconds thru 2:20 demonstrates how to get to the inside of the screen.
Or
this one...

There is an anti fog coating on the inside of the screen.
If you run it too hard or too much it comes off. As a consequence of this coating moisture beads on it. It's not an issue unless really bad and Yamaha have been known to replace dashes on early models in warranty.
This one shows the complete process for removal of the dash and fitting the polarising film if your going for a flip.

the pictures you are showing is with the lens protector on,when you peel that off you will see the lens is clear like a smart phone.it was a pain to remove on both my 2017 and 2020 ,used a peace of duct tap in one corner and just worked at it(i could`nt bring myself to scatching on it to get it loose
