Hey gang, my offer of $10,000 out the door (except TTL, since I'll register the bike myself) was accepted Saturday, so will pick up my new black FZ-10 on Tuesday (Mondays are closed). I know the stock seat is crap, but even if it wasn't, with that freaking wart, I'd replace it anyway . It bothers the hell out of me. He he. Anyway, my question is which seat is the best bang for the buck in your opinion, and why? The $300 GYTR comfort seat, or the $460 Corbin Gunfighter sport? I like Sargent better than Corbin, but they don't seem to make a seat for the FZ-10, so I didn't mention it. And no, I don't want a skin over the stocker, since I don't think they make them without the wart. What I never liked about Corbins were 2 things: heavy as hell, and hard as hell, meaning my paltry 160-lb weight wasn't enough to even dent the material. The last one was over a decade ago, so maybe things have changed. What I don't like is it looks like it's WAAAY higher than stock, but not absolutely sure. It's worth mentioning I have an inseam of only 31 or so. Also want the comfort seat to minimize the knee bend, but don't want it so high that I can't even remove the bike from one of those front chocks that sink the front wheel a little. I'll need one to transport the bike on my F-150. And also want to use it in the garage, to check oil before every ride, etc. If there's any other seat option you think it's better than those 2, I'm open to suggestions . Many thanks. JC

I have the Yamaha Comfort Seat. It's a great seat, very comfortable. Wifey seems to like it as well for 2 up. It's pricey but I don't think it's more expensive then the ones you're looking at. I got one used and I see a bunch every now and then being sold used. Could probably get one for less than 200.
The only downside is that the corners of the seat appear to wear easily where the seat meets the tank. I've tried to rectify this by modifying the bottom of the seat with the "tall" rubber stops that are on the stock seat. Hard to describe this over text. So I'm hoping that modification will prevent excess rubbing of the seat on the tank. But the seat becomes very hard to pull off after that.

I went the Seat Concepts route and couldn't be happier, I only weigh 145 if that matters?

I went Seat Concepts also. After 1000 miles still pretty firm, but way better than the stocker. I'm a 200 pounder.....

Surprised Corbin is still in business after this long. Lousy seats and even lousier customer service when something is wrong.

Is there any way to properly remove the tag that says "COMFORT" on the comfort seat? Would make it look cleaner.

That’s exactly what I’ll do. The same way I remove it from shirts and stuff: with fingernail scissors as close to the seam as possible. Then pull the threads if they show. I’m almost always leave them like there was nothing there. Hope that’s the case with the seat. Haven’t been able to find an FZ-10 seat, so looks like it’d be the MT-10 or nothing. If after putting the radiator grilles I ordered (arriving next week) I can make the ‘FZ-10’ part not standing out, I’d just order the MT-10 seat. Don’t like to be pretentious and get an MT-10 seat when I own an FZ-10, but can’t find one. I think the straps are different, but will remove it anyway, just like I did with the stock seat and passenger pegs.

I ordered one(Yamaha comfort seat) from Babbits Online and used the code WBR2 provided by a member in the sales thread, it was around $260 with shipping, I find it much better than the stock seat and it is thicker so you get a bit more leg room, I put some soft Velcro where the seat meets the tank, and so far it shows no signs of wear, the price was less than retail and the code was good for 15% off. It was back ordered and took about 4 wks to arrive.

I had the comfort seat, minor improvement. I now have the Corbin, and it’s a huge improvement, would never go back. Had no problem with customer service, and received my custom seat in half the time quoted. That said I have had a Corbin on a different bike in the past that was no as good. Also a little pricey.

Hey, can you post good pics of your seat? I know they’re heavy as hell, but how about height difference from stock? They look HUUUUGE. The only one I had also was hard as hell, at least for my 160# frame. Are they any better now? And how about fit? Had to work a lot to make it fit right. Finally, which model did you order? The Gunslinger sport, I assume? Thx.

The fit on mine was perfect, no issues. I got the Gunfighter Sport. Corbin seats break in over time, but was comfortable from new, probably due to the deeper profile.
