I'm pretty aggressive in my riding style with all the wonderful roads here in southern CA, and I weigh over 220lbs. Today I noticed I'm getting some front brake lever pulsations and seems that I've warped a, and/or both front rotors at only 10K miles.
Anyone have first hand recommendations on some upgraded aftermarket rotors? Also, are the rotors same as an R6?

Are you running stock pads or aftermarket? I went through the same shit with another bike and it was the aftermarket pads warping my rotors.

I ride extremely hard...always a late on the brakes. I had a problem with my rotors pulsating and causing me to run wide in a few hairpins. I was perplexed because this has never happened to me before. The rotor wasn't warped, but it sure did have a big shudder and pulsing so bad that the pads weren't grabbing the rotor and I ran wide on the turn. This was on my bad ass FZ1 mind you, but I will say after I switched to the front rim I had oem rotors it seemed fine. I will say I didn't try the rotors on the same section of road(which is brutal on brakes),but they seemed fine and definitely weren't warped. I had a trackday coming up and I just decided to mount a good used race dot tire on the rim I had the issue with, but I first scrubbed the rotors really good and just sprayed the calipers really good with brake cleaner to get some of the buildup out. Did a good brake bleed and I swear I was a demon on the brakes...even out braking bikes 90lbs lighter with local expert racers on board.
I would recommend confirming that they are or aren't warped...then scrub rotors real good with red scotch brite pads and clean with brake cleaner and clean cloth until you don't see any grime on the cloth. I'm no expert on the subject...I just read this somewhere and it made sense and seemed to work just fine. I believe the problem was to much buildup on the rotor.

Later, Hey! I recognize your similar screen name from BARF. Thanks I'll try that first. I just saw your thread on your FZ10, where did you get those rotors at?

The Galfer rotors came on the bike. I'm probably going to eliminate the abs and try and get it stopping as well as my 09" FZ1. Send me a pm if you want to get a ride in. I assume you live in Cali.

That would be great, but in Feb I moved from San Rafael down to North SD area. I still post on BARF because it's probably the most active MC forum in CA. I also had a 2nd gen FZ1 ('07 and all stock) previously and I loved it, that's what peaked my interest in the FZ10 when it came out and made me want one!!

Well if you ever find yourself missing some of the central & northern Cali roads...let me know. Let's keep tricking out the FZ10's and find new mods that make the bike better.
