Throttle Problems??? Okay, i just bought my new MT-10 (2018 in Blue). It's amazing. But, I can't figure out if there is a problem, or if I'm just not working the throttle very well. I have read that this bike has a "twitchy" throttle. This seems a little excessive. It's like it is cutting out constantly. I cannot hold a smooth, constant speed. Last night, I almost had an emergency get-off trying to ride with just one hand. Also, when I accelerate hard, it's like there is a miss or delay.
Do I just need practice, or should I have this looked at?

Some people feel the throttle is twitchy but it's never been a problem for me. Buy what you describe is not normal. It could be your technique and your first impressions, or it could be a problem. Take it back and have it checked out.

If you're cleaning you're not riding

When I first bought my FZ it felt twitchy to me in A and B mode, standard was smooth.
I usually ride in A and have gotten use to the heavy engine braking when you let go of the throttle even a little by adjusting my riding habits.
Also, I have gotten a bit lazy and use the electronic cruise control more than I thought I would.
Not sure of your acceleration issue, unless you are hitting the throttle at a low RPM or hittin' the limiter. If you have a doubt, bring it in and have the dealer look at it.
Not sure where you are but down here in Cruiser Country, I remind the service guys, this bike will do back flips if they hit the throttle like a cruiser....

Hey ,
I have the same issue and it is not about control - there is a huge big hole in low reves when accelerating hard - it can cause ballance problems when you are expecting to go and then nothing - did you find out what it was? Have you made any changes to your exaust etc..?

There us a bit of learning curve with the throttle on the bike. There is a dip between 4 to 5500. You just have to get used to it. Balls out mode can be touchy. A flash will take care of it. I rode for a few thousand miles without one and it's doable but it can get unsettling when leaning deep. Some folks like it, some find it tiresome if that makes sense.
In short, should have got the flash couple thousand miles ago. World of difference in all aspects. More power and smoother throttle.

I HATE the twitchy throttle on my 2019. Even worse when the engine is cold. It's really annoying and borderline dangerous. I'm getting a flash this winter and I'll probably pick up the G2 Throttle Tamer as I've heard good things about that as well.

You can get the throttle adjusted through a flashed ECU. I worked with a guy to map mine and my buddies throttles out to be better.
Also, don't be tricked by the power modes. Standard does not limit the bike to full power. Standard limits the acceleration with a more forgiving curve but I believe full throttle on the standard mode is still full throttle.
But otherwise, yes the throttle is too twitchy on this bike.

Yea I've been riding on mode 2 since I got the bike. Decided to switch to mode 1 yesterday while out for a nice ride and WOW what a difference in throttle response.

All power modes give all power. Think of it as adjusting the sensitivity of the throttle, the amount of twist that's needed for the same power.

I got the g2 throttle tamer as well. I guess it's just the nature of this bike. Otherwise, just hold on lol
