I just signed up for Yamalube Advantage and did my first oil change. I'm looking at the website and there are a couple of things that make me second guess even bothering. Primarily, one of the rules is that there are no modifications to original parts. Does anybody know if this applies to things like a ECU Flash and aftermarket exhaust? Usually the terms are used as a 'gotcha' to keep them from paying out and I seriously doubt I'll have an engine problem outside my YES coverage that is so catastrophic I'll be glad I had the Yamalube warranty.
Anybody else bothering with this or have any other info?

I would say without a doubt that if you pushed your bike into a dealer with an engine problem that had a ECU flash (or different air filter or 3/4 cat delete exhaust) claiming a lubrication failure caused your problem you would be met with a very loud 'NYET' (with a Japanese accent). It is well known that doing a flash on your engine negates your warranty and people who go down that road know and accept that. If Yamaha says you can't have any modified parts that essentially means any parts or modifications from the air intake to the exhaust tip, and that would include electronic modifications.
I've ridden and driven over a million miles over the last 50+ years and have never had any type of engine failure due to a lubrication failure, and oils way back then were pretty crude compared to the hi-tech ones today. If you change your oil and filter at the recommended intervals, and use a JASO MA oil in the proper weight, you are unlikely to have any sort of problem. I doubt it is worth it to go down the Yamalube Advantage route, especially if you've done modifications as described.

I enrolled in the program when I bought the bike last year. I logged on and updated their website the first three oil changes that I did. I didn’t update their site when I did the fourth oil change though, and that was a couple months ago. So, at this point, I probably won’t. Haha. Oh well. It’s a good thought.

Yeah, I think that's where I've landed. It is a neat idea, but I'm not going through the hassle for something I can't imagine ever needing and I'm likely already disqualified for. Thanks guys.
