Hey Everyone!
First-time poster here. Picked up an FZ-10 a little over a year ago, has a little over 7k miles on it now. Only mods done so far are a fender eliminator (can't remember the brand), and just replaced the stock can with an akra slip-on. Decided this wasn't loud enough, so I have a link pipe on order. Also have an integrated tail light on order, and a new rear tire.
Just today, I had the first issue with it. Went to start the bike, and the starter turned, but the bike didn't start. I then noticed the ignition was not fully in the on position (about halfway between the off and on position). I switched the bike off, then turned it fully to on, and it fired right up. However, once it fired up, a fault code was triggered and now the CEL is staying on. Gonna take the bike to a local shop to have it scanned and see whats up.
Anyways, I LOVE this bike. It's my second bike, and it will not be going anywhere any time soon. More mods coming in the future, just not sure what's next... Any recommendations?
Thanks for reading!

Lot of people with new bikes have been reporting CELs for seemingly no rseason. Sometimes they jsut need to be cleared via the dealer.
Welcome to the forum! Check out some of the member galleries. That's seems to be where some of the best ideas come. Or you can at least figure out in what direction you want to go as far as leaning towards cosmetic upgrades, speed upgrades, or track type of upgrades.

There are two switches in the lock cylinder, the first turns on the ECU, the second all the safety circuits. I suspect you had the key between the two switches which is why the engine would not start, it did not see the safety interlock circuits engaged which is also why you now have the CEL. Once you turned it off and then back on all the circuits were engaged and you could start the bike, but the CEL has to be cleared from memory, it won't go away on its own even though the fault has been fixed. You will most likely find an error code relating to the 'side stand switch'. It can be easily cleared.

Thank you evitzee! I was thinking it was some kind of goofy situation like that. I have an appointment with the dealer next Monday, so we will know then if that is the issue.
