What the heck Yamaha?! Couldn't pony up the extra $10 per bike to cover both sides of the radiator? Cannot unsee. Anyone know a vendor that sells a shroud for the left side of the radiator?

If you're cleaning you're not riding

If you're riding you won't see them. Same with the false air scoops.
You are correct though, if sittin' and looking it just doesn't look good.
However every manufacture does this somewhere on their bikes.

Not to mention this would be something additional to take off when doing simple maintenance. The gas tank scoops are terrible and those interior rubber gasket things to hold them on.
So much dumb shit on bikes. Including the screws on the Kawasaki ZX6R that require you to remove the fairings off as one piece (like track fairings) because the screw presses up against the bike and you can't get a screwdriver in to separate the side fairings from the front fairing.
Or Triumph Daytona rear seat cowl that requires a hidden Allen bolt to remove the cowel.

Noticed it when I first brought the bike home in Nov 2016, and haven't thought about it since. If it really bothers you I would get some heat resistant engine paint from O'Reilly or Autozone (the kind that has a crinkle finish), mask off the radiator and paint the silver parts, that will make it blend in. The Transformer design of the FZ-10 has several odd, jarring design elements. You either accept it, or wake up in the middle of the night with night sweats. I sleep well.

That is a good solution to the issue. I too have zero issues sleeping at night over this. I do however have great dreams of past rides on the beast!!!

Krylon sells a pretty cheap fix.

I just went out and looked at my machine.....the Evotech radiator guard covers this area so that is another solution. I originally had the Yamaha FZ-10 radiator guard on but switched to the Evotech about six months ago to match the Evotech oil guard.

Here
To me it just looks unfinished, and not in a quirky BMW way. The first time I saw it I thought something fell off. The right side cover is to mask the coolant reservoir so its only real purpose is to provide a cleaner aesthetic look. To me it follows that if you're going to add a superfluous piece of plastic whos only function is to cover something ugly, why not go the extra step and match it with another superfluous piece on the other side? It'd be two or three screws max Yamaha! Guess it just annoys certain people more than others. I bet some people feel the same way about the exposed headers under the oil cooler so they buy Ermax or Puig belly pans.

Exposed headers are even less of an issue than the radiator. It sounds like you are still coming to grips with the styling.

Naw, part of the reason I like it is the aesthetic. The thing that bugs me is it's incongruity in an otherwise well-executed aggressive design. To me its not ugly, just a conspicuous absence of something. Like a drawing of a person without eyes. You wouldn't say that the person was ugly, you'd say that person was missing eyes. To be ugly a form must be distorted. The lack of something is different than calling something ugly.

The Evotech definitely covers it up.

Yup, I see the asymmetrical radiator covers as entirely consistent with the Transformer style if the bike. Ours is not a beautiful bike, but it's an interesting bike.
