I've had a pair of Heroic SP-R gloves for the last 6 years. They've been awesome gloves and have lasted multiple bikes! I've never crash tested them, but always felt confident that they would do their job... Sadly, they are wearing out and I need to replace them.
I'm considering another pair of Heroic SP-R's, but also considering Knox Handroids and Held Titans. I'm curious to hear other experiences with these brands and if anyone would recommend any other brands/models that would offer similar or better protection.

I've used Knox Orso leather for the last few years. The BOA system and scaffoid protection were major selling points. My hands feel very safe in them. Not crash tested but I love 'em so much I have a brand new spare set. www.sportbiketrackgear.com/knox-orsa-leather-hand-armour-gloves/ I also have an older set of Knox Gauntlet gloves. I forget the model, but they're not as beefy as the Handroid or the Orso for that matter. They fit very well though and provide excellent feel. Seems as if I could pluck a hair with those guys on! I don't prefer gauntlets so they don't get much play. From the looking at the Handroid I personally wouldn't hesitate. That seems to be a very nice glove that just so happens to be discounted. However, I've never read or heard a bad review about Held. No personal experience with Held.

I had Knox Biomech gloves (step down from the Handroids) for 2 years and replaced them with a pair of Handroids which I've had now for 2.5 years. Also have a pair of Knox Zero 2 winter gloves. Having zero experience with the Heroic or Held gloves I cannot offer comparison but I would still recommend the Handroid gloves. The comparable gloves to the Biomechs - Nexos MKI - I wouldn't recommend (by comparison) since they dropped the use of kangaroo leather in the palms. The use of kangaroo leather, the scaffoid system, and the wrist protection were the top selling points for me. Kangaroo hide is lighter and more durable than cowhide. Haven't field tested either of my Knox gloves yet, but the kangaroo leather is definitely soft and offers great tactile feedback vs. past traditional cowhide leather gloves I've used. The BOA system is nice, but it takes an extra couple of seconds to lock and dial in vs. just slapping a patch of velcro across your wrist. My 2 minor gripes with the Knox gloves are: a) the velcro wrist strap, b) thumbs... A) the small velcro strap used to cinch down the glove on your wrist is a bit long and the small patch of the hook-side doesn't always do the job. Or maybe I have very dainty wrists , either way, it comes undone regularly. When the gloves were new it wasn't an issue usually, but the velcro has worn out and it happens more frequently. I don't really cinch it down as snug anymore since the BOA laces hold the glove in place along with the general snugness of the glove. B) the thumbs are too big. Counting my long-gone Biomechs, I've owned 3 pairs of Knox gloves. On all of them, the thumb is too long. The other 4 fingers fit perfectly once the glove is broken in. Admittedly, this varies per person, but after being on numerous different forums, I know I'm not the first person to have this criticism of the Knox gloves. The armor on the wrists is phenomenal. All other gloves I've looked at have some high-density foam stitched under some leather and call it a day. For the Handroids, it's a hard shell which acts as a slider as well. One fair warning, and I'm glad someone warned me of this when I bought my first pair: these things take a long time to break in. I almost returned them when I got them since they were so tight and uncomfortable. My measurement puts me just above medium but smaller than the large. I went with medium based on the aforementioned guidance. Glad I did, because they break in nicely, fit snug, and the palms almost feel like a second skin. Baby powder is your friend if your hands get sweaty. Just for reference, here's a pic I took just now of my Knox Handroids to give an idea of wear and tear after 2.5 years.

I tend to look at Held first. If I can find something for the task in my budget either on clearance or on sale, that will usually win out. Held also uses Kangaroo and also some Stingray in spots. I've had three pairs now and can't speak highly enough about their quality. I like those Knox gloves too, but the size that fit my fingers and fist better put the hard scaphoid piece too high and where it interfered with my grip.

I have run Racer's 'High Racer' gloves for the last several years. They require very little break in and last a very long time (3-4 seasons at 15Kmi+/yr). They have kangaroo leather palms just like the Knox and breathes well for a race glove. The pinky bridge and hard wrist protection are a plus. They're not cheap and rarely go for sale, but worth it. Racer doesn't mention it but mine work fine on a touch screen. www.racerglovesusa.com/high-racer-glove/

I ended up purchasing another pair of Heroic SP-Rs. Fit and finish are fantastic. And the 20% off Ebay sale during Father's Day helped, for sure!
