Sux this has to be my first post! Bought a brand new 17 FZ-10 yesterday. Bought it a couple hours away and brought it home in an enclosed trailer due to weather. Got it home, started it up and the check engine light is on and staying on. Checked the oil, coolant, battery connections... All the basics. Pulled the can and the EXUP appears to be opening properly. Disconnected the battery for a couple hours and that did nothing. Took it for a ride and everything appears to working properly. Kept it under 6000 rpm's and the power is what I'd expect. Only thing I noticed is it appears to run warmer than I'd expect. Heating up over 205 at a stop light on a 60 degree day here on N/E Ohio, and mpg is at 28. I'd expect more as I'm really taking it easy. Before I call a dealer Tuesday, anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, PaulB

Your operating temps and mileage are normal. You'll see 205+ even on cool days when in stop and go traffic, but it will run in the 165-170 range on the open road. Mileage on the -10 is not one of its strong suits.
CEL can be triggered by many things on bikes these days. Early 2017's had a sidestand switch issue that could trigger the light, there is a tech bulletin where the ECU needs a quick reflash to correct the problem. Perhaps your bike was an early one and the reflash wasn't done by the dealer. About the only way you are going to get rid of the light at this point is to let the dealer sort it out. I suspect it is no big deal.

Turns out there were 3 codes causing the light to stay on. Though my bike was not in the VIN range for the side stand service bulletin, 2 of the codes had to do with the side stand, and the other one was a stall code. Tech wasn't sure what the stall code was, but they purposely stalled it a few times trying to replicate it with no luck. Thats good! No light now and good weather. Time to ride!

Glad to hear it was sorted out. Local deler has a black left-over 2017, but only discount it $1,500 from MSRP. Then you'd have to pay $200 for the missing quick-shifter, and who knows what else. Reportedly 2018s are not that detuned, but I just posted a thread to find out. Also prefer one more year of bugs being worked out, but hope this was the last of your troubles. That was the first year of the motor here, but debuted in Europe a year earlier. Take care.

I got mine for $2000 off, plus no freight/set up, only doc fee and tax. Given that I really wanted a black one, I was real happy with the deal.
