I put on an aftermarket clutch lever. Once installed it seemed to work alright but it wouldn't allow me to start the bike in gear with the clutch pulled or set the cruise control (it had a kill switch tab installed in the proper location). After riding and discovering this I changed back to the stock levers and am still having the same issues. Any suggestions?

Check all of the switches to include the kickstand switch on the kickstand. So Brake switch, clutch switch, and kickstand switch. All 3 can fall out of alignment and any of these switches not working right will cause cruise control not to work.
From there, I would check tension on the cables. You could actually have a little too much tension on the cables to where the brake and clutch lever are slightly pulled. Your levers should always have a little bit of play in them before they actually start to pull on the cables.
Those two checks should remedy most of the standard issues with these types of issues.

Thanks. Wondering also if I may have accidentally stretched the clutch cable while installing the new lever preventing the clutch from fully releasing?

They don't really stretch like that . But I'm glad you brought that up. Make sure the cable is set properly. Its hard to describe this over text, but I've seen the e dge of the outer cable cover get jammed up outside of the adjustment nob instead of being set inside of it like it should. That could put stress on the clutch cable and slightly engage it. So on top of checking the tension and the switches, check and make sure your cables are set right .

I think I found it. The small pin that retracts back in to the clutch switch broke completely off, probably when installing the new levers. I'm assuming I need a whole new switch now because that pin can't just be reattached correct?

Yea, unfortunately those types of things are usually available by the whole unit only. And they aren't cheap either.
Find the part # on a OEM parts website like bikebandit.com and google search it. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a used one somewhere on ebay or something. Bikebandit should also be able to tell you if the part is shared with any of the other Yamaha bikes (I don't think it is though) and you can search for the part off those bikes as well.
Unethical life tip is to take it to dealer with the stock levers on if it's still under warranty and just play stupid. That's kind of playing with fire though because if they argue it's not from a manufacturer defect, they're gunna charge you at least for the diagnosis which will probably be about the same as the switch cost.
Finally, you can try to superglue it back.

Found the switch. Clutch switch #8 on the diagram. I'm probably just going to eat the price of the switch rather than screw with dealer and just chalk this up to a semi-expensive learning experience.

Yikes, a hundred bucks, and its not even in stock. I'd be tempted to put the stock levers back on and throw myself on the mercy of the dealer. At least they might be able to get the part for you. Depends on the relationship you have with your dealer, I've had several good experiences with my dealer in situations like this.

Found it in stock on another site for 76.00. No big deal, it's an easy enough install and I don't have to bother with the dealer.
